LATER THAT DAY...

Bonnie's eyes snapped open.

Her vision was blurry, but she felt her body wrapped in soft sheets. The bed wasn't familiar. It smelled like sandalwood and something slightly floral.

Her gaze drifted across the room, landing on a photo of Hayley and Hope on the nightstand.

Oh. I must be in Hayley's room.

She sat up slowly, wincing as a sharp pulse hit her forehead. Her fingers pressed to her temple, trying to soothe the pounding.

That's when she noticed someone sitting in the corner, relaxed in a velvet armchair, a leg draped casually over the other, ankle resting on the knee. A book was open in his hands.

She didn't need to see his face to know.

"...Klaus?"

He lowered the book just enough to glance at her, a small smile appearing on his face. "Ah. Good evening, my darling friend. You gave us quite the scare. I take it you're feeling better?"

Bonnie narrowed her eyes, still adjusting to the situation. "Yeah...I think I'm okay. Where is everyone?"

"Spiraling," he said casually, flipping a page. "We've been taking shifts watching over you. Lucky for you, it's my turn."

He cleared his throat and raised the book again, though his eyes didn't return to the page. "So...do you think it's a boy or a girl?"

Bonnie inhaled sharply. "W-what? How do you—"

"Hayley told me," he replied smoothly, as if discussing the weather. "Don't worry, I haven't said anything."

"I passed out before I could tell her," Bonnie muttered, groaning as she rubbed her eyes. "She should've known I wasn't ready. She didn't tell anyone else...right?"

Klaus hesitated, then said, "Only Elijah."

Her head shot up. "You just said she didn't tell anyone else!"

"Silly me," he said with a lazy smile. "Must be those pregnancy hormones of yours rubbing off on me."

Bonnie gave him a death glare.

He held up his hands in mock surrender. "Fine, fine. Elijah knows. And perhaps... Rebekah. Maybe Freya. Marcel might've overheard something..."

"You've got to be kidding me!" Bonnie threw her hands up and groaned. "Klaus!"

"Relax, love." He rose from the chair, stretching his arms with infuriating nonchalance. "Hayley has...a bit of a loose tongue. But I assure you, Kol doesn't know. That secret's still intact."

Bonnie let out a long breath. "Thank God."

She paused.

"I mean, I am going to tell him. Obviously. Just...not yet." She looked at him, eyes pleading now. "Promise me you'll keep it to yourself."

Klaus nodded solemnly, his expression softening. "You have my word."

She gave him a faint smile—grateful, but exhausted. As she moved to get up, a sharp jolt of pain throbbed through her skull.

"Jesus," she muttered, hand clutching her forehead.

Klaus vamp-sped to her, and steadied her by the elbows before she could fully stand. "Easy now."

Bonnie flinched at how quickly he was there, but let herself lean into the support. "Yeah...thanks."

He stayed close as she walked toward the door, his hand hovering near her back like he might catch her if she stumbled.
