Luke Hemmings

Blurb: How can three people hate me that much, that they don't even want to be in the same room as me? Danielle is the new girlfriend of Luke Hemmings, and his friends Ashton, Michael and Calum don't like her.

"I can't go in there, Luke." I sigh taking my hand back and using it to push hair out of my face. "Michael is just straight up rude, Ashton makes snide remarks and Calum ignores and over talks everything that I do."
"I know." He hangs his head low.
"Do you really though?" I ask, taking his hand back in mine and holding it against my chest. "Because if you did, I wouldn't have to go in there again."
"Can you just please go in there? It's a family gathering. And you're my girlfriend, so therefore, you're family. Just because a few of my friends don't like you, doesn't mean that you don't have the right to leave."
"The right to leave?" Chuckling, I rest my head on his chest. "Can we just stay out here? Well, at least me?"
"No. It's a band slash family gathering and you're joining."
"Fine." I agree reluctantly. "But you have to stay with me the entire time we're here."
Within the next few seconds, I can already feel the gaze of Michael and Ashton bearing into my back. They're probably saying something rude like; "thought we were bro's before hoe's?" Like they have before.
So what if Luke likes someone who can actually pick up a book and read something for more than two minutes? I may not be his ex, but the reason they broke up is a reason for me to stay, isn't it?
"Danielle, nice to see you again." Liz smiles, taking me into a warm embrace. "How has life been treating you?"
"It's been great. I've just gotten a promotion, it's not big though, but it's something. How have you been?" I ask, trying ignore Calum rolling his eyes.
"It's quiet with no kids, but it's been peaceful."
"Danielle, what promotion did you get?" Michael asks. "Was it being main girl for hooters?"
   "Michael." Liz says sternly.
"No, if you must know. I get to write my own story for the magazine I work for." I roll my eyes. "Can you comprehend that? The magazine I work for? And actual job."
"I have a job." He bites his tongue, forcing himself to not call me a bitch. I can see it in his eyes. "It's called working from home."
"Does working from home mean, siting on your ass playing video games all day? Because if it is, I applaud you, Michael. Really, that's impressive." I say sarcastically.
"That's enough. Come on, Dani, let's go get some food." Luke intercepts before anything else was said.

"Why do you hate Michael?" Luke asks.
"Why does Michael hate me?" I respond. "He's the one that started everything."
"They say that you're just rude."
"I'm rude?" I scoff. "Have you seen the way Calum looks at me? Or the snide remarks Ashton throws at me every time he sees me? Or the way Michael takes any chance he can to make me feel unwelcome?"
"Why would they do that?" Luke sighs.
"I don't know, Luke. Why would they?" I put my head in my hands. "I'm over feeling like I'm ruining "bro time". I'm over it."
"You're over it? I'm over hearing about how it's always bro's before hoe's." He looks at me sweetly. "Can you just not be as rude to them?"
"Give me one good reason why I shouldn't be rude, when they are rude to me."
"Because they were around first."
"They were around first? What kind of thing is that?" I explode. "How about they not be rude to me because I'm your girlfriend?"
"You don't need to yell." A voice says from behind me. I spin around to see Michael pressed against the wall. "It's uncalled for."
"Oh piss off. Why are you so rude to me, huh? How about we all have a new motto? Let's not be rude to Danielle because she hasn't done anything to you."
"You want to know why we're so sick of you being around? You're nothing like Luke's ex. She actually liked to play video games with us." Michael says.
"She also was only with me to get to you and Ashton." Luke says, taking my hand.
"You know that's a lie."
"Then why did she admit it? She would've denied it, wouldn't she?" Luke asks. "Why should Danielle have to be nice, if you can't bother to acknowledge her as my girlfriend? My new girlfriend?"
"Because she's not good for you. She makes you act like you're a father." Ashton intercepts. "And not the good kind either."
   "She changes me?"
   "Yes." Michael and Ashton say.
"Well maybe I do need a change. Or something a little less, a break. If you can't accept Danielle, then you should re evaluate your own stand on who she is. Because she's staying, and I don't want to chose. So don't make me."
Luke makes me walk away with him, and down to my car without looking back. "I'm sorry."
