Hiii...
Whoever voted for Minho on poll... YOU ALL GUESSED RIGHT!
.......
The silence after the recording was thick. Hyunjin was still processing the sound of his father's voice when footsteps echo from behind them.
"Everything without me?" Minho was leaning casually agaisnt the broken doorway.
Felix didn't even flinch, his lips curved, the quiet knowing smile. He said, "Knew you'd show up for sure," without turning.
At the same time, Hyunjin snapped his head towards him, confusion flickering in his eyes. "Minho, what the hell are you doing here?"
Minho shrugged, walking closer. "Heard the family ghosts are talking again." He nods at the recorder on the table. "Guess it's true."
Hyunjin frowned, "what's true?" Felix exchanged a quick look with Minho. We gotta tell truth to him.
"Hyun... We didn't know everything. But-" Started Felix, stopped and exhaled.
"But what?" Hyunjin asked, eyes sharp.
"But we had doubts... that your father wasn't dead." Minho ended in a sentence before something ruin.
Hyunjin froze on his place, the words didn't sink in immediately. They just hung in the air like smoke.
After a moment, his voice low. "You both... knew?"
Felix accepted the behavior, the tone and everything. He knew Hyunjin would react like this. He was ready to handle the situation.
"Suspected. Never confirmed. We didn't want to give you false hope or make you bled twice if we were wrong." His eyes were soft and gentle. Hyunjin didn't find a lie cuz there wasn't any.
Hyunjin took a slow breath, jaw tight. Not because of anger but hurt. That kind of pain that comes from being protected too much.
"So you both let me mourn him... all the time?"
Minho looked at him quietly and spoke, "We let you heal first. Some wounds needs silence before truth."
Felix stepped closer, reaching out to him carefully, "Hyune, if I'd knew for sure, I would've told you. I swear."
Hyunjin looked up, though his eyes were wet, but clear. The confusion is there but underneath it, there's understanding.
After a pause, he pulled both brothers in a hug. Thinking what he would do alone in this situation.
Minho grinned, tried to lighten the air, "Admit it, you'd have done the same."
Hyunjin chuckled quietly. They all laugh. Soft, tired laughter that feels like a sigh after a storm. Felix rested a hand on Hyunjin's shoulder.
"Now we are confirm, he's alive." He spoke softly to Hyunjin.
Hyunjin nodded, "And who forced him to choose death over us?"
"Guess it's a family mission now." Minho smirked.
Felix glanced at Hyunjin, there eyes met. Something spoken passing between them. Fear. Hope. That shared resolved that had always bound them closer than blood. They kept looking in each other eyes until Minho interrupted them.
He looked between them, sighed dramatically, "Ew, you two are gross."
"Jealous?" Felix grinned. "Of your dramatics? Never."
Hyunjin chuckled for the first time in days, the chuckle that's real. "Oh c'mon. We all know you're jealous and missing Jisung now."
Minho fake pouted, Hyunjin and Felix both made a disgusting face to tease him back.
