You are a (A/T)

What makes a beast and what makes a man?

"Please do take care father."

"Don't worry my dear I will."

With the reassuring word from father to daughter a middle aged (A/T) left the snug cottage and mounted his horse headed to his next patient. His employment as a doctor required him to answer the calls of the sick but he was headed to a rather usual call.

A request from an old women of another village had led him to a once thought abandoned castle deep in the woods, secluded from all. Mastering his courage he walked up to the grand front doors, to be met with an interior draped with dust and cobwebs.

"Hello?" he called, his voice echoing.

A deep growl then crept down the corridor, accompanied by a raspy unused voice.

"Who? Who is there?"

Meanwhile the daughter of the doctor was back at the cottage keeping herself busy with the daily chores waiting for his return. However she was surprised when he didn't come home till late evening and with a pale expression.

"Father? Are you alright? You didn't catch your patient's sickness did you?" she asked one question after the other anxiously.

"No, I am perfectly fine. But not as much could be said for the poor boy whom I met today." he said sadly taking a seat.

They sat at the kitchen table as they shared a pot of tea discussing his latest patient.

"I can't cure him, but he said he already knew what would end his condition. But he also said I couldn't help him with that, although I was wondering if you would visit him." (F/N) suggested.

"What good would me visiting him do? Although I will happily go." (Y/N) wondered.

"The young boy is very lonely in there, and when I feel at my worst your smile alone makes me feel alive. I think he just needs some kindness." he said with pride.

She had already made up her mind on what she would do.

"He's very secluded up there, you know of the current events in the village and so would have plenty to talk about." he also said, slightly worried she wouldn't agree.

"Then of course I'll go father."

So the next day (Y/N) headed up to the castle with directions given by her father. Standing at the gates she gazed up at the grand castle, blackened with lack of care, once green vines turned to brambles crawling up the walls and weeds as thick as syrup bursting through the tiles on the path.

Making it up to the front doors she simply went in, already informed that no one would answer had she knocked. Upon seeing the darkened corridors which seemed endless she gave a big gulp before entering. She looked around for a possible source of light, then she saw a candle of a near by side table.

Forever being practical she pulled a box of matches out her pocket. But as soon as she lit the three candles on the stand, it started to move!

She gasped taking a couple of steps back as the candle hopped off the table and onto the floor, it then seemed to give her a bow of sorts.

"Umm, hello?" she offered.

Rising from it's bow it gave a wave with one of it's metal arms, a candle for a hand.

"Uh, I came here to see a young man living here, my father sent me." she said a little unsure, bending down a little to the candles small height.

It gave rapid nods of it's head and motioned for it to follow her. They went down several corridors and peered into a couple of rooms, but when no one was in there the candle would shake it's head and then move along again.
