Waking up

(Y/N) could hear beeping, it was rhythmic, and familiar. After a few seconds she could tell it was a heart monitor. A heart monitor? Why can I hear a heart monitor?

It was a struggle but eventually she was able to open her eyes, although the felt like lead, as though she hadn't woken up in days. Her vision was blurred causing her to blink her eyes rapidly only to realize, she was in a hospital room.

How did I end up here? Glancing around her neck feeling stiff she sew it was day, a clock told her it was about two in the afternoon. On the bedside table next to her were countless 'get well' cards along with a very large bouquet of flowers which consisted mainly of her favorite flowers, which also looked half wilted.

The whole room was filled with the scent of them. It was then that the door opened and a nurse walked in, a black male cat, who looked as though he would faint on the spot.

"Oh sweet Chaos! You're awake!"

"Uhhh... yeah.." she replied, her throat feeling like sand paper and sounding raspy.

And at the movement of her face she felt something taped onto her face and an odd feeling her news.

"Alright stay calm I'm going to go get the doctor."

All she could do was sit there not sure as to what was going on, thankfully a female white hedgehog who was the doctor came in quite quickly. She smiled kindly taking a seat next to (Y/N)'s bed.

"You must be rather confused."

"Yeah." she nodded "A little."

"Well there's no way to sugar coat this for you but you've been in a coma."

"A coma!?"

"Yes, for the last two years."

She sunk back in her bed shocked at this new news.

"I know its a lot to take in but you're perfectly fine, now that you've woken up. But saying that this is about the time your friends visit..."

The doctors voice trailed off as she heard rapid footsteps coming down the hall. The door that was slightly opened was fully slammed open as a blue hedgehog ran into the room.

"I can't believe it you're awake!" he exclaimed.

"B-but! You're!" (Y/N) stuttered in surprise.

"I'll leave you to it." the doctor smiled leaving the room.

This couldn't be happening! She had just woken up and suddenly her favorite fictional characters were alive!

"Sonic!" a voice called from the hallway "Don't leave us behind like that!"

A group of mobians then ran into him all clambering to get inside. She recognized them all, Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Amy, Cream and Cheese. All of them seeming equally pleased that she was awake.

"Oh my gosh you're okay!"

"It's a about time you woke up!"

"(Y/N) I'm so sorry! This was all my fault!"

"Don't say that Tails."

"Hey are you alright (Y/N)?" Sonic asked.

She was stunned for a second, being the attention of all these people. She eventually said in a small voice.

"But you're all in the games I played..."

"What are you talking about silly? You've been in a coma since you got hit with some sort of gun Eggman had, you knocked Tails out of the way and got hit instead." Amy explained.

At his words vague memories came back to her mind, there being an attack, worrying about her friends, pushing Tails out of the way and being hit in the head. She'd been knocked out and the next thing she'd known she was living many stories. Some stories were her memories and some had been a result of her imagination.

She'd fought battles, been different creatures, been in different times and dimensions, been in . She thought it had all been chapters in a book. But no.

It had all been real.

Her eyes started to water, and she had to sniffle trying to stop herself from crying averting her eyes from the others.

"Hey are you alright!?"

"Yeah." she sniffed meeting them all with a large smile "I'm just happy to be back."
