You are a (A/T)
For the sake of this chapter you are British and have moved to Japan in the last year.
The one shot will be a mixture of British and Japanese Valentine's Day traditions.
Idly munching on a piece of toast (Y/N) sat at the table filling up on her breakfast whilst her mum bustled about the kitchen, her dad had already left for work and the morning radio was playing in the background.
"And that was 'Doki Doki' from the hit TV show Tokyo Mew Mew, seems fitting though with Valentines day being only one day away! You better get baking girls!" the announcer said enthusiastically before introducing the next song.
"Huh, I forgot it was Valentine's day tomorrow." (Y/N) thought out loud.
"Honestly your so forgetful (Y/N)." her mum chuckled lightly sitting in front of her at the table with a cup of tea.
"But what did the radio mean by get baking?" (Y/N) asked a little confused.
(Y/N)'s mum was Japanese where as her dad was British, she'd grown up England before her mum got a bigger job and they moved to Japan a year ago. (Y/N) had started high school and made some incredible friends.
"What? You mean I've never told you before?" her mum asked.
"Told me what?" (Y/N) asked tilting her head.
"Well you know that in Britain on Valentines Day couples will generally go out for meals and the boys will give girls roses and chocolates and cards, well in Japan if a girl gives a boy homemade chocolates it means they like them. Unless it's platonic." her mum explained.
Hmm, it's quiet interesting that Valentines day is so different depending on culture. (Y/N) thought to herself.
"Even when we were in England I still made your dad chocolate every year, in fact I'll have to make some tonight." her mum said blissfully remembering her husband.
Even now (Y/N) found it cute how her parents acted like newly weds.
"Can I make some with you tonight as well? I'd like to give my friends chocolate." (Y/N) smiled.
"Of course sweetie."
(Y/N) then got ready and headed to school and of course everyone was excited about tomorrow, all day she could hear hushed conversations between girls concerning who they were going to make chocolate for.
Then when the school day ended she hurried home and made chocolates with her mum for most of the evening, her dad being banned from the kitchen so he didn't see the chocolates her mum was making for him.
~The next day, February 14th Valentines Day~
"I'm leaving mum!" (Y/N) called heading out the door.
"Have you got your chocolates you made last night!?" she called back.
"Yes!"
"Okay! Have a good day!"
School was a quick walk away and she didn't even make it to homeroom without seeing girls giving boys chocolate with bright red muzzles. Taking her seat at her desk she rummaged through her bag glad to see the chocolates she made, which were wrapped up in individual cellophane bags were undamaged.
