Following on from 'Glasses'

You are still a (A/T)

I get the feeling my friends would kill me if I died because I didn't wear my glasses.

Come on, just five more minutes, just five more minutes....

The entire school day had truly been a trial for (Y/N). Not wearing her glasses and being practically blind had been a lot harder than she had anticipated.

At the start of the day she had her slip ups but they didn't stop there. After her third lesson, History, she headed to English her forth lesson. But English often requires one to read. So (Y/N) gave the excuse to Sonic that she had a headache and asked him to quietly read out the questions to her.

Well she wasn't technically lying, as she did have a throbbing headache from straining her eyes and every now and again banging into door frames and walls.

Then at lunch she had to get the dinner lady to pass her the sandwich she wanted, because she couldn't read the labels.

And now she was in last lesson, maths. It had been a bit of struggle but fortunately the maths teacher read out most of the questions out, which she had been able to answer.

There was only a few minutes left of the day and (Y/N) was more than ready to get home and do nothing.

Come on, let the bell ring!

Her prayers were met when the shrill ringing rang through out the school. No student lingered in the classrooms and either started walking into town or headed to the bus bay. (Y/N) was one of the ones going to the bus bay but as she checked her bag for her bus pass, or rather identified objects by their touch, a realised she didn't have her house key.

Already fed up with today she whipped out heroine and dialled her mums number.

"Hello?" Her mum answered.

"Hey mum, I left my house keys at home. When will you be home?" (Y/N) asked.

"Oh you silly mare! Well I won't be home until late as I'm at the shop, you'll have to walk down here and wait until I'm done."

Before (Y/N) could offer an alternative her mum hung up. Giving a frustrated sigh she shoved her phone in her pocket and began the walk downtown.

Her mum worked in a book store and now she'd have to wait there until her shift was over.

However walking through town with little sight was hardly a walk in the park. She was lucky to make it to the store in one piece!

Once she made the bell of the door ring walking into the shop her mum immediately noticed she wasn't wearing her glasses.

"And why aren't you wearing your glasses missy?" She demanded.

"The nurse had some contact lenses which she gave me, but they'll only last for today." (Y/N) made up on the spot.

Her mum stared at her for a minute.

"Fine, then make yourself useful and grab me a crateful of dictionaries from the storeroom. Exam season is coming up so they'll sell like wildfire." Her mum instructed.

"But I hate it in the storeroom it's creepy..." (Y/N) whined.

"Well unless you want to serve the customers you'll have to get on with it."

Knowing she couldn't serve any customers, with her little sight and lack of skills concerning the till, she gave in with a huff.

The storeroom was underground right under the shop, it was more a dusty basement filled with books to be sold. So (Y/N) tracked down the long staircase hating every minute, not being able to see made her feel even more on edge.
