disclaimer: this is loosely based on Vampire Diaries. if you haven't watched the show, there's this thing called doppelgängers, a pair who when they die they are reborn in the same body but don't remember their previous lives. these two are meant to be together and cross parts in each of their lives, believed to be soulmates. again it's loosely based but I hope you'll get it. One thing Michael knew better than anyone was the importance of time.

To some, it might seem weird as he had all the time in the world.

Since the day his eyes have seen Luke he never let him wait for him, Michael was always early.

Sitting in his car to pick up him up for their date he observed the scars on his hands. Scars he would usually cover, but since it was summer and since Luke had told him they looked pretty he didn't.

There was one just above his left elbow, that one he got in a war about two centuries ago. He fought next to Alexander the Great, front line. Michael wondered if Luke would like to hear that story.

He had another one above that, bigger and it held more memories and was of bigger importance than the first one.

Disrupting his thoughts were doors opening in the distance, more exactly Luke's front door.

Michael glanced at his watch realizing their date wasn't in another forty minutes and yet Luke was already dressed up and heading towards the car.

Quietly observing the much younger man settling in his car Michael found himself being nervous.

"You're early." He said with a soft but strong voice. There was a drop of affection behind it, the one he held just for Luke.

"I always see you, you know. Waiting here for hours before we agreed to meet."

Luke's eyes held nothing but warmth and for a second Michael let himself forget.

"I got your letter."

"I'm sorry."

Blue eyed man smiled. "For what?"

Michael didn't give Luke an answer, instead, he stared at his scarred knuckles. The thing was, even when one was immortal, he had to let himself heal. Michael let scars breath on his body as a reminder. These new ones were punishment for letting himself fell again, for letting himself for a mortal person, for anyone.

As if Luke was reading his mind he gently took the bruised hand and took it between his, before letting them fall onto his lap.

"I never doubted why I fell for you, Michael. I knew you, your story, your history. I know you. I feel for an immortal with a heart too big to believe he never loved anyone. The question is did you fell for me or the reincarnation of what I'm supposed to be."

"Luke-"

"Tell me a story. How many times did you love me,.. or the person who looks like me."
