Luke never doubted why he fell for Michael.

When he was fourteen years old he spent every minute he had either observing or daydreaming about the boy.

But Michael hated him, he always pushed past him like he didn't even exist. He never invited Luke to sit with him and Calum even though Calum promised him once to talk to Michael about it. Luke had the most obvious crush in the history of crushes, even their music teacher knew about it.

Luke enjoyed Michael's side profile the most.

He had this beautiful round nose that scrunched up whenever he laughed. Beautiful green eyes that were guarded by long dark eyelashes that made them stand out even more. Luke dedicated half of the songs he wrote to the sage green emeralds that made everything else in the world seem unimportant and a waste of time to look at.

Michael's hair was something even girls talked about in a jealous tone. Dirty blond strands stayed in place for the whole school day, even PE class couldn't get to them. The younger boy wanted nothing more than to run his hand through them, just to make sure they were as soft as they looked.

Luke's brother, who was also well aware of the love his younger brother had for Michael always joked that he looked like Snow White. Snow pale complexion of his skin and a pair of plump cherry lips he could only dream of touching, but instead, Luke dreamed about kissing them.

In other words... Luke was completely smitten by the older boy named Michael Clifford.

It's not like he didn't want to say hello or smile at him when their eyes met, but Luke was so scared of embarrassing himself he just looked away on all the rare occasions it happened.

One day when Luke was spending lunchtime alone, rereading his English homework he got disturbed by the noise of someone moving the chair next to him.

It was Calum.

"Hey man."

"H-hey." Luke said quietly. Calum was nice, he was friendly, kind and talkative but most importantly he never made fun of him for staring at Michael for longer than he probably should. But still, they didn't talk more than twice, one of those occasions being on Facebook when Calum praised Luke's youtube covers.

"I wanted to talk to you about something."

Luke gulped. Judging by the worried expression on the Maori boy's face he was doomed, he knew it would happen one day.

"I'm sorry." He said quickly on the verge of tears.

"Dude, what the fuck? What are you sorry for?" Calum said sitting next to the upset boy.

"I don't mean to stare at him so much it just happens, I get carried away I know but I can't help it."

The older boy giggled, making Luke tilt his head in confusion. "What's funny?"

"Dude it's cool. I'm not here to talk about that in particular. I just wanna help you."

"Help me with what?" His heartbeat started to slow down slowly.
