"Your flying is so good," Luke commented as he walked back from the quidditch game.

He and Michael Clifford were the newbies on the team and Luke was sure he only got the spot because his brothers were but Michael, he was really good.

"Thank you." The older boy said quietly.

He always seemed quiet, at least that's what Luke had thought but he spotted the boy once or twice with his friends and he seemed much chattier.

"I'm serious."

"My mum's family are huge quidditch fans so I've been training since I was little."

Luke felt good that Michael said something because they still had quite a walk back to their rooms.

"That's amazing. I wish I was that good at anything."

Michael stopped and for a few steps, Luke didn't even realize it. "What's wrong?"

"Are you serious?" The older boy looked shocked. "You're the best in most classes. I can't even make a potion without something starting to burn."

"Oh." Luke realized Michael was right. It was just his brain was less celebrated than success in sports. "I can help you with your potions, you know?"

Michael stopped walking again and it was quite funny to Luke. "Really?"

Luke nodded and they spend the rest of the walk to the dorm figuring when they could meet.

"It says a sprinkle of the unicorn powder, not a teaspoon." Luke sighed.

He wished Michael's parents would maybe work with him on cooking skills than just flying.

"But this is the smallest spoon." Michael pouted.

Patently, Luke showed him how he could pick just a bit of the powder with his spoon or use his hand.

"Okay, now it says I need to stir it three times clockwise and two times the other way."

"Do it slowly," Luke said before Michael started. He saw him mix potions in class and it always looked like he was in a hurry.

While Michael was stirring and observing how the liquid changed color Luke noticed someone was coming. They used one of the empty rooms near the hospital wing of the school and Luke had a feeling they shouldn't be here.

"Michael, someone's coming," Luke said quietly and started to use his magic to clean up.

"Calm down." The boy interfered still observing the potion he just created. "It's my aunt. She's a nurse here and she told me we could use this room."

"Hello boys, how are you doing?"

Luke just smiled and whispered good. Michael, on the other hand, was beaming. "Look, Aunt Carol, I didn't burn the room down."

She laughed and his reaction made Luke smiled as well.

"Thank you for helping my nephew, Mr. Hemmings. He hates mixing potions. I don't blame him though. Last year he made a love potion and it didn't turn out okay. He made me make the antidote as the poor girl started throwing up everywhere."

"Really?" Luke said. "What was the antidote?"

"Oh, I made some sweets. Michael didn't want her to find out it was him or his poorly made love potion that has caused the reaction."

When she left, Luke slowly turned to Michael.

"She was throwing up everywhere, huh?"

Michael blushed.

"Like during dinner in front of everybody and then later in the library, almost ruining hundreds of years old book?"

"I-I'm sorry." Michael stuttered.

"Really?" Luke did sound angry.

The older boy sighed. "I just wanted you to like me."

"By making me sick?"

Michael's pout was back and his green eyes were wide and filled with regret.

"I'm sorry. I just really wanted you to go to a winter formal with me."

"Michael," Luke said, his face was still stern but his voice softer. "You should just ask."

"If you would say no everybody would laugh at me. Your brothers could have done something mean because I'd presume you like boys."

"Michael stop!" Luke shouted and scared Michael.

He didn't even notice that while he was talking, he started stirring the potion again in no order whatsoever.

The liquid started bubbling up and Luke quickly grabbed his wand and spat out a spell.

The potion vaporized into the thin air and the pot was empty.

"You see?" Michael said sadly. "I'm a mess, why would you like me?"

Luke was quiet but then he took his sleeve and cleaned Michael's cheek that was dirty from the almost happening explosion.

"You're lucky I have a thing for confused, colorful haired boys."

Michael looked up. Luke was smiling.

"Is this you talking or the potion?" Michael's facial expression was seriously concerned.

"Shut up," Luke mumbled and pulled the older boy by his robe and kissed him.

For Valentine's day, when Michael got better at potions with the help of his boyfriend, he made another loved one just to show off to Luke. While the portion was perfect Luke's roommate drank it instead of him and Michael once more had to ask his aunt for the antidote.

Both one shots came from the same idea and that's how far my brain will go. My imagination is my strength and we all know grammar and vocabulary are not strong when it comes to me.

Thoughts on the magic!au?

Michael being the next Quidditch world champion?

Luke being the next Snape/potion master?

Michael's love potions?
