Michael knew Luke hated Valentine's Day before they've even met.

He remembers being seventeen and transferring schools just before the 14th of February. Michael wasn't sure at the time what had happened but he heard a rumor going around about a boy who's brother told all the girls in his class to send him cute love notes. Honestly, he thought it was cute but then this boy Calum who sat next to him in biology class explained that his name was Luke and he was actually gay.

It wasn't until one day Michael and Luke were officially encountered in the park near their school that he heard the whole story.

Ben, his older brother thought Luke hadn't had a girlfriend because he couldn't get one and wanted to help. The truth was Luke had a boyfriend at the time and was still in the closet. When this boy heard Luke had all these girls waiting in line he started the rumor that he was gay.

It was a nice thought but since then Luke hated Valentine's Day.

Michael knew that when he asked Luke to be his boyfriend at the same park a few months later.

And when he purposed. And when they got married.

Luke also knew he married a hopeless romantic.

Michael was cute enough to ask him out on 15th instead of 14th and they even got married on 13th.

The only problem was that this year was ten years since their first date and Michael really wanted to do something special for Luke.

He knew there was a high chance of getting Luke mad but he at least had to try, right?

Luck was on Michael's side when he realized the 13th was Friday and he could book a little getaway for the two of them. He heard Luke talk about this high-class hotel one of his coworkers had their baby shower at.

It wasn't cheap but who would he spoil his money on if not on the love of his life.

And when they would get back there was a small present waiting for his husband in their backyard.

Michael packed Luke's bag and checked his schedule to know when to pick him up. Luke worked as a music teacher in a local high school and as much as he loved his work he was normally out as soon as the bell rang.

Luke looked surprised when he saw his significant other waiting for him but he greeted him with a kiss anyway.

"What are you doing here Mikey?"

Michael grinned. "It's our tenth anniversary today and I'm taking you somewhere special."

He knew something was wrong when Luke's face fell. "Mikey, I have a work seminar today. I've told you that last week." When he saw the disappointment on his lover's face he kissed him again. "We have our real anniversary in two months and we can go then okay?"

"I guess so." Michael murmured.

Luke pecked his lips again and gave him a quick hug. "I really got to go, Mikey, I'm sorry. I'll see you tonight."
