Michael

Michael looked at Luke with a frown on his face. His boyfriend was mopping around their apartment the whole morning and he knew it was his fault.

He knew he was also the only one who could make Luke feel better but he was awful with words. Terrible really.

The night before Luke showed him his new portrait he was working on for his next exhibition. All the paintings revolved around monochrome colors finished with blotches of different shades of one color.

The exhibition was called "Family" as all the people portraited on Luke's canvas were either his family members or his closest friends. Michael fit in both categories to Luke and his color was red.

His dad got green, mum yellow, Ben orange, Jack purple, Ashton pink.

Luke even did a self-portrait with gold as the accent color. It was so beautiful Michael couldn't wait to hang it on their wall of their apartment.

But the painting Luke had shown him the day before was of Calum. And the color he used to finish it was blue.

And blue was Luke's favorite color. Which for some reason made Michael jealous.

So, when his boyfriend, the love of his life, the most talented boy under the sun asked for his approval, Michael lied and said he didn't like the final painting for the exhibition.

Luke

Luke looked at his boyfriend when he knew Michael wouldn't be looking back. He was upset over Michael's opinion but he trusted him and kept looking at the painting to see what's wrong with it.

He used the same technique as with his previous ones that Michael liked.

It's not like Luke was mad at Michael for being truthful but he was afraid to ask him further questions.

The thing about his boyfriend was that he was awful at talking.

When they first started going out Luke fell in love with Michael fast and hard. He found him enchanting. Quiet but when he talked about something he was passionate about, Luke could listen to Michael for days.

But other than that, he didn't talk at all. He kissed him like he was the love of his life but never told him so. Made love to him like it was the last day on earth every single time.

After three months of their relationship Luke was contemplating breaking up with him but then Michael invited him to meet his parents.

Luke was nervous but Michael's mum and dad were amazing. Nothing like their son when it came to talking and the moment, she had the chance, Karen sat him down and told him what he needed to hear.

Michael wasn't good with speaking his mind but great with answering questions.

So that evening Luke asked Michael if he loves him and without hesitation, Michael said yes. When he asked how much, Michael talked for fifteen minutes. Like he did when he talked about things, he was passionate about.

He was passionate about Luke.

But now Luke only had the answer to Do you like this painting of Calum?  which was no.

He was afraid to ask why he didn't like it or what bothered him.

"Luke?"

The younger man looked up from his book and saw Michael holding on the black and blue canvas.

"You can throw it to the bin if you want to."

"No, Luke. Look at me."

Luke did. Just out of curiosity if nothing else because Michael was talking so much.

"I lied, baby. I'm sorry."

Michael looked sad and Luke was just confused. "About what, Mikey?"

"The painting is beautiful. I loved the face angle you used of Calum."

"Oh." Was all Luke said. He felt happy but he wasn't sure why Michael's opinion had changed.

"I lied because I was jealous."

Luke stood up and walked over to his boy. He took the painting out of his hands and carefully leaned it against the table.

"Jealous of whom?" He asked and placed his hands on Michael's cheeks.

"Calum." Michael was biting his lip which meant he was nervous. "You used your favorite color for the accent."

"Baby." Luke smiled. All the gloom disappeared out of his heart and head. And instead of being mad at his boyfriend he loved him even more. "I used the color of love for your painting. The color of your hair when we've first met. There's nothing to be jealous about."

Michael smiled. "I'm sorry."

"Don't be." Luke leaned in and kissed him.

In the end, this was what Michael was good at.

He kissed Luke back so hard he could feel the love spread through his veins.

Luke was passionate about Michael too.
