Luke grabbed the cutlery that was meant for the dessert and glanced at Michael.

"You sure you don't want some?"

Michael's negative response seemed weird. Ever since their first date at the very same restaurant they've always shared a piece of vanilla sponge cake with fresh berries.

Always.

It's been around six years since but Michael has been acting weird for the past month so this was the least of Luke's problems.

The older of the two, on the other hand, was nervously observing his boyfriend as he took the first bite of his cake.

"Is it good?"

Luke snorted. "You know it is Mikey. You're sure you don't want it?"

Michael thanked him and smiled. He knew he made the right decision. Luke was the kindest and lightest soul he had ever met.

"If I wouldn't know any better I'd believe there was a poison in this cake."

Chuckling Michael shook his head. "Your imagination never ceases to amaze me."

Luke grinned, the cream filling spread all over his upper lip. "That's why you love me."

"That I do."

He took another bite and then another.

"What the fuck?!"

Michael's heartbeat went wild as Luke picked up the hard object he had hit with his fork.

When he realized what it was his eyes widened and he looked at Michael as he was in shook.

"Mikey?"

Michael froze for a second and completely forgot what the plan was.

"Oh. Just a second."

He stood up and took the ring from Luke's hands and kneeled on one knee.

"Luke Robert Hemmings."

In the back of his mind Michael noticed some people turned towards them and he was pretty sure someone was filming but he didn't seem to care. He only had eyes for his boyfriend who's eyes were already tearing up and he didn't start with the sappy stuff.

"I love you. I have loved you ever since we had a fight over what the best Blink song is right here in this dinner. I love how your eyes somehow become even brighter when you're excited. I'm obsessed with your lips and your smile. I adore your awkwardness and clumsiness. I love how little of hate and judgment you have in you and how you never fail to amaze me daily with everything you do. We both know how lame I am with these things and I might have lied to you when I told you I'd never get married. Honestly, I don't care for the big ceremony. I don't care if we both change our last names or we don't change them at all. I care because if a hot dude like you say yes to marrying me I'll prove everyone who has ever doubted me wrong. I'll prove myself that I am worthy of you. I'll prove it to you that I am not scared of commitment and that I'm not lying when I promise you that I'll love you forever."

Luke let out a strangled sob and Michael took his hand on his own. Both of them were shaking and both of the men were crying.

"Luke, will you do me the honor of marrying you?"

With tears in his eyes, Luke nodded and as soon as the ring was on his finger he threw himself into Michael's hold.

"I'm sorry for the lame proposal," Michael whispered into his fiancé's ear. The whole dinner was clapping at them but they could only focus on each other.

"It was perfect. And if you think this is lame we could get married in our underwear and it'd still be perfect for me."

"We have a deal then."
