Luke knocked three times fast and two times slow like he always did. Michael's room was the closest to the back door of the Clifford residence so his boyfriend would always hear him knock.
He clung tightly to the piece of paper he was holding. It was precious and it just started to rain.
The curly-haired boy realized his mistake the moment Michael opened the door.
His boyfriend was wearing his gaming gear which really was just a pair of wireless soundproof headphones and a tee with a logo of whatever game Michael was playing that day. It was a gaming day and on gaming days Michael wanted to be alone.
Luke fully supported that but in the moment of excitement, he forgot about it completely.
"Is there something wrong Lukey?" Michael asked he pulled the younger boy inside the hallway to protect him from the incoming storm. He kissed his cheek before grabbing Luke's face.
He was sure there was something wrong, otherwise Luke wouldn't disturb his alone time.
"I'm sorry Mikey." Luke pouted. "I completely forgot what day it is."
It was a relief for Michael to know Luke was okay. Still, he knew his boy was there for a reason. "What's that?" He asked and nodded towards the piece of paper he was holding.
"I came here to show you something but it can wait.."
"Just show it to me, babe," Michael said with a smile. "I'm not mad at you for coming."
The second Luke realized Michael was telling the truth he showed Michael the homemade Valentine's day card.
Michael seemed to recognize his own creation and observed the horribly drawn hearts and a small kitten holding one of them.
He opened the card and read the words he wrote to Luke when he was eight and the blue-eyed boy was seven.
Happy valentine day Lukey!!
I lov yu a lot! Your my best friend and one day well get married.Love
MikeyMichael grinned and looked at Luke who was also smiling. He leaned forward and kissed him.
"Who knew I was such a romantic."
"I do. Best boyfriend anyone could wish for."
They kissed again before Michael pulled Luke to his room.
"You want to watch me play?"
"You hate people watching you."
Michael rolled his eyes and pulled Luke down on his bed. "Yeah, but you're my person. That's different."
They snuggled under the blanket before Michael offered Luke another pair of headphones.
"Hi guys, I'm back."
"Everything okay?"
Michael looked at Luke and winked to him. "Yeah, just my boy missed me. He's going to tag along."
"You're the one who agreed on having a gaming themed wedding one day right?"
Michael kissed Luke's head and picked his controller up. "The one and only."
