"Why is Michael Clifford looking at you?"

Luke stopped chewing his sandwich and looked at the same direction Ashton was staring.

Michael was smiling at him and Luke waved and smiled back.

"Since when do you two talk?"

Luke shrugged his shoulders and took another bite. "I help him with his math homework sometimes."

"You help him?" Ashton asked like he couldn't believe it.

"Ashton, I don't know why are you finding it so hard to believe. I'm the second in class at math."

His best friend laughed and shook his head. "Luke, you're so smart but so stupid at the same time."

Luke frowned but had no intention to fight with Ashton, he knew he was smart so whatever Ashton meant wasn't important.

"Hey, Lukey."

Luke looked up to see Michael standing next to him. "Oh, hey Michael. Do you want to sit here?" He moved his bag from the bus seat next to his. The older boy smiled widely and sat down.

"How are you?" Luke liked Michael. Michael was nice to him, he always messaged him on Facebook when he was ill to tell him what they did at school. Even if Ashton was his best friend he never did things like that.

"I'm good." He blushed a bit, Michael was always looking at him like he was really listening to him. His eyes were always roaming over his face. "How are you?"

"A bit nervous," Michael admitted. "We have a math test tomorrow, remember? I just feel like I didn't study enough."

"I know how you feel; I still have a few exercises to go over myself."

"Do you maybe want to come to my house and study together? If you don't have any other plans of course." Michael blushed this time which to Luke seemed unusual.

"I can't." Michael's face fell. "I'm home alone for the afternoon and have to take care of my dog. But if you're parents would be okay with it, you can come over. I'm sure we have enough food to feed you as well."

Luke was happy to see the smile return on Michael's face. "That'd be great."

It wasn't Michael's first time at the Hemmings' family house but it was the first time they were alone. Excluding Molly.

Luke reheated the food his mother prepared for them and they ate while watching MTV. Like always, when guests came over, Molly seemed to like them more than Luke. So while Michael was sitting on the floor studying with the dog on his lap Luke was all alone on the sofa.

"What result did you get under the third question?" Luke asked, for some reason all of his results were different than the ones they solved together in class.

"61," Michael said and turned to him, Luke sighed and threw his pencil on the sofa. "Why did you get?"

"3721."

The younger man groaned. "I'm sorry Mikey. If you thought, you'd get anything out of this study session you were wrong. I keep getting everything wrong."

Michael gently pushed Molly off his lap and sat down next to Luke to look at his exercises.

"You keep forgetting to extract the result. We're looking for s not s squared."

Luke blinked a couple of times. "Oh my god, you're right. You're a savior."

"Here you can double-check in my notes." Michael gave him his notebook.

Between the pages, there were some papers not so neatly folded in. Luke knew he should but he pulled one out.

He recognized it as one of the previous tests they had. Michael got an A on it.

"Michael."

"Yeah?"

Luke turned to the older boy who was playing with Molly again. "Why are you constantly asking me to help you with your math homework? Are you making fun of me?"

He was on the verge of tears.

"No." Michael frowned. "Why would you think that?"

"Your grades are better than mine."

Michael's cheeks colored dark red. "I-I'm sorry. I just..."

"You just what? Wanted to make sure I wouldn't get a better grade than you? I really don't see any other reason for you to-"

"I like you."

Luke closed his mouth. He had no idea what to say but Michael started talking so he didn't have to say anything.

"I didn't want to make a fool of myself so I asked for your help at the only thing I'm better than you." Michael hurried to explain, he didn't look at Luke once. "I just wanted to spend some time with you and then maybe ask you on a date but I realized you weren't interested. But I like your company so."

Luke frowned. "I'm not better than you at everything else."

Michael chuckled. "I'm lucky my entire family is good at math; I'm pretty much-failing everything else."

"B-but that doesn't mean anything. Why would you think I'm not interested?"

Michael finally looked at him. "I've sent you the kissy emoji last week and you just ignored it. It was pretty clear."

"Oh." Luke blushed. "I thought it was an accident. I showed the text to my brother so he could tell me if he thought it was intentional and he wasn't sure."

"It was."

"That's good."

Michael shyly smiled at him. "Really?"

"Yeah, I was really happy you sent it to me. Because I think you're really cute. And I may be better at other things but I'm not that good at love stuff."

"Me neither," Michael added. "But maybe... We could help each other and become better?"

Luke giggled and took Michael's hand. "I'm in."

Michael smiled and leaned over when Luke realized what was about to happen he closed his eyes and let their lips meet.

This time both of them got it right.

Thoughts? (:

I feel like a disappointment every time I write fluff again but then I feel like a disappointment every time I don't write fluff. (':

ALSO NEW 'AND BACK' CHAPTER IS UP. Great story. Would 10/10 recommend, even if it's mine (': It actually has some angst. I know. What a shock.
