I was in complete shock with what Dad had to tell us. He was leaving Spencer Publications in me and Wyatt's hands? Was this some prank? The old man loved his company too much to even think of handing it down to the next generation. I didn't understand. Maybe it wasn't met for me to understand. I watch Dad exit with his bag of food and for once in my life I wished that he had stayed. I didn't want to be left alone with Wyatt. I didn't want to hear his mouth or anything he had to say. From the corner of my eye, I saw him begin to open his mouth, probably ready to say something to destroy me. To prevent him from saying a thing, I quickly spoke.

"You do know that if it wasn't for your mother I would had been in your place as Steffy's husband. Just saying," I said casually as I plucked lint off my blazer.

"Do not  bring my mother into this," Wyatt said defensively.

"And why shouldn't I?" I challenged. "I mean she is  the reason you and Steffy are married is she not?"

"In case you have forgotten bro, you broke things off with Steffy remember?" Wyatt reminded as he shot up from his seat. I blinked because I didn't recall breaking anything with Steffy before Wyatt's sick ole mother kidnapped me. "You escorted Ivy back to Australia without caring about Steffy's feelings."

"What are you talking about Wyatt?" I asked irritably. He wasn't making any sense.

"You know exactly  what I am talking about Liam," He replied, "don't blame my mother for what is your  fault."

Wyatt angrily headed to the door. He wasn't leaving because I wasn't done talking to him.

"You know, Steffy and I almost  had a baby together," I said with a smile as I heard Wyatt stop behind me. It pained me to bring up such a thing as my unborn child that Steffy lost in a motorcycle accident but I had to make a point to Wyatt. "You know Steffy and I married twice right?"

"Yes, I'm aware of all that. What's your point?" Wyatt asked annoyed.

"You married Steffy once," I answered as I got up to face Wyatt, "and you never got her pregnant. Goes to show who the better brother would be for her, no?"

Wyatt took in a breath as his face went redder than before. Could it be that I hit a nerve?

"Look Liam," he said testily, "the only thing that we share is the same dad. Not the same woman. Steffy is mine and mine alone. Get that through your thick skull or else you won't be having Cressida as a girlfriend anymore."

                                                                                        *

Wyatt's words echoed over and over in my head as I sat at my cold dinner table, eating leftover Chinese food from three weeks ago. It was still good.

"Get that through your thick skull or else you won't be having Cressida as a girlfriend anymore."

Should I be scared? I actually was. Then again, what could Wyatt possibly say to my girlfriend? That I'm in love with his wife? Cressie wouldn't even believe him. She cared about me too much to even listen to my creep like brother. I-

        "Liam!"

I paused as I stopped chewing my sesame chicken. I heard someone calling me. Not just anyone though. It kind of sounded like Steffy. I listened in hopes to hear that beautiful sweet voice again...I never did. Maybe that's all just in my imagination. I continue to chew on my food as I scraped the Chinese styrofoam box clean.
