I woke up to the sound of my loud rooster sounding alarm clock. Still half asleep with my face buried in my pillow, I reached for the clock's button to shut it off. It was a good thing that Ridge was a heavy sleeper and usually slept through the loud annoying alarm. I turned to face Ridge with my eyes still shut.

"Had a good sleep?" I asked. I always greeted him when my alarm sounded and he usually responded back. Today however, he was silent. "Babe are you-?" But before I could ask him if he was wide awake, I opened my eyes to see that he wasn't in bed. This was so unlike him to not be in bed at this hour especially since he's been out and about in this ninety five degree heat. He needed to take it easy as well as to catch up on his sleep.

It was a possibility that he may be working on sketching a new outfit downstairs...then again I wasn't sure. I got up from the bed, took up my phone that sat on the dresser and headed downstairs to find my husband. Today was suppose to be a day for the both of us to relax and enjoy each others company as husbands and wives did...I assume. We also had to do last minute planning for my birthday ball. It was two days away and we had a lot to discuss.

As I came down the stairs, I paused as I saw people wearing black vests and slacks walk back and forth carrying flowers, glitter and other objects that I wasn't familiar with. These people must be the decorators that Ridge was talking about a few days ago. I was shocked that they came so early but it was better than having them come in the night.

"Let's just move the picture just a little to the left of Grandma. Yes, that's perfect Carter. Thanks!" I turned to my right and sure enough there was Thomas in an open shirt standing beside Carter; the Forrester's lawyer as well as a very good friend. Thomas was staring in the direction where Stephanie's portrait stood while Carter stood on a ladder beside Thomas. Figures Thomas would be up so early. We tended to bump heads quite often and I tried my best to avoid that.

"I'm assuming that Ridge planned for her picture to be on the left of your grandmother, right?" Carter said and I wanted to know what they were talking about.

"No actually," Thomas responded as he helped Carter off the ladder. "I planned it myself."

Carter smiled a pearly smile. That man always had beautiful teeth. "I'm sure she'll love it."

"I hope she does. It's the least I could do after I nearly forgot-"

"Caroline!" Carter exclaimed as his eyes met mine. Thomas followed Carter's gaze as he looked up at me. Maybe I shouldn't had kept looking at Carter and Thomas. I was bound to catch someone's attention. Carter stuck out his hands as I came forward and placed my hands in his. Thomas looked away and I hoped that he wasn't jealous of how I was interacting with Carter. "Been awhile hasn't it?"

"It sure has," I replied with a smile. Carter was a good friend of mine. I tried my best to get him back together with Maya, his ex, but it didn't work out. "You look great."

"So do you," Carter said as Thomas cleared his throat. Carter looked at him and then at me. "I really would love to stay and chat but I have to help finish decorate your place."

I was tempted to tell him to take a break and have breakfast with me but he seemed to be in a rush.

"Okay but I better see you for my party," I said as Carter and I slowly let go of each others hands. I hope Thomas's throat clearing didn't scare Carter away.

"Definitely," Carter replied as he picked up the ladder that he was standing on. He turned to Thomas. "I'll see you around Thomas."

"See you man," Thomas said as he and Carter shook hands. "Thanks again." Carter nodded to him and no sooner did he disappear down the hall. I wished he stayed because now it was awkward with just Thomas and I.
