Chapter Twenty Four: Rick

      I much rather be enjoying myself with Maya, criticizing who looked good and who didn't at the party, instead of informing my grump oaf a father that there was someones blood on broken pieces of glass near the balcony. The blood was fresh which meant that someone was lurking a few minutes before Maya and I arrived there. Strange it was that we saw no one in sight when we pulled back the curtain. Either our culprit was still hiding somewhere up there or they  escaped just in time. Which ever it was, it was a bit creepy. Creepy  to know that someone was sneaking around the mansion that belonged to Maya and I before that  Ridge plundered it for him, Thomas and Caroline to live in. The more I think about it, maybe it was for the best that Ridge took the mansion away from us. After all, he had something hiding away in his home so technically it was his problem, not ours. Had it not been for Caroline and Douglas who lived with the goat man  I probably wouldn't havecared much.

       Maya and I came down the stairs as we saw people slow dancing. As Maya and I walked past the peeps, I was immediately reminded of Wyatt and Liam's girlfriend who had danced together to that annoying Ed Sheeran's song a few hours ago. It bothered me that Wyatt had danced with his brothers girlfriend which seemed a bit too intimate to my liking. That son of Quinn just didn't know when to quit. He was always  going after the women that Liam liked and I wanted to know when will he grow up. He went after my sister Hope who obviously was in love with Liam. He went after Ivy who, like my sister, loved Liam more than him. He went after Steffy, Liam's one and only, and managed to get her and now he was after the new girlfriend. If he thought for one second that he has that sleazy power like his father, Bill, who took whatever he pleased, he was wrong.

        "So Eric's with daddy outside," Maya said as I thought about how much I was disgusted with Wyatt. For the love of God he had Steffy as his wife. Steffy  who Liam was crazy about for years. Yet here he was trying to get with someone else who Liam was also crazy about. How heartless can that boy be? "Just go through the doors like the brave man you are and-" Maya paused as she looked at me. I bet she was feeling my disgust towards Wyatt. "You alright hun?"

     "What does that Wyatt think he's doing?" I questioned angrily. "Trying to snatch another flower from out his brother's grasp?"

      "Be nice hun," Maya said defending Wyatt for whatever the reason was. "I'm pretty sure he wasn't trying to snatch anything from Liam."

       "He was dancing  with her babe," I replied. "Dancing rather close like they were a couple or something."

      "Well they're not," Maya told me. "Wyatt has Steffy and I'm pretty sure he wouldn't attempt to steal  Liam's girlfriend away." Boy wasn't she positive! "I understand  that you're not a fan of Wyatt but theres no need to judge him. He's committed to Steffy and that's all that really matters." Committed he may be but that still didn't give him the right to dance with Liam's girlfriend, especially not during a cheesy love song. "Now let it go and lets worry about more important matters."

       "Like how Caroline isn't here?" I asked. Maya gave me a tired look. I knew she just wanted to talk to Dad about the blood and the glass upstairs but there was so much on my mind that needed to be expressed. "Don't you find it the least bit strange why Caroline isn't present to her own party?"

      "Rick please," Maya said as though she didn't want to hear me complain. It was too late for that though because once I'm in the moment it's pretty hard for me to stop

     "It's pretty apparent that something happened," I continued, "and I have a feeling I know what."

     "What happened?" Maya asked even though it sounded like she didn't want to ask me anything. "Did you think that Ridge confessed to her that he wanted a divorce?" I gave her a knowing look because my wife hit it on the nail. "Seriously Rick? You really think that Ridge is that  heartless that he would do that on the day of her birthday? I get that he's a bit cruel but I don't think he would do that."
