Katie's PO.V
The squad met up at the dock, boarding the party boat together. Brennen and I were last to arrive, right after Heath and Amber. I matched with Brennen, wearing an all-black ensemble consisting of a one piece bathing suit with ties on the side and cleavage area, destressed black, denim shorts, with a pair of sandal heels that were made from black, distressed denim as well. I worse my hair straight and down, adding a dad hat that was black with white lettering that read 'almost famous', opting for minimal makeup as well. Brennen slung his arm loosely around my shoulder, kissing the side of my head. "Did I ever tell you how lucky I am to have you?"
I smiled, wrapping my right arm around his waist. I kissed the side of his arm before seeing Amber turn around from the corner of my eye. She smiled widely, turning fully around to face us as Heath half turned, pretending to not know what she was doing as he continued to stare ahead. "Hey! Aw... You guys are so sweet together."
I smiled lightly, not knowing how to respond and was thankful when Brennen spoke up for me. "Thank you! What's your name? Amber, right?" He stretched out his hand for her to shake which she quickly accepted, causing Heath to turn around quickly. He gave Brennen a look, though he ignored him, keeping his focus on Aber. "I heard a lot about you."
"Good things, I hope!" She joked, to which I herd Heath mumble a sly remark that only registered to my ears as Amber continued to speak to Brennen. "So how long have you two been together?"
"Just hit the seven month mark." I said through a tight smile, wanting the conversation to end.
"We are hitting our year mark on June first!" Amber wrapped her arms around Heath's side and he kissed the side of her temple, wrapping an arm around her shoulders. "But, if you want to be technical... Our first date was in March right before he asked me to Hawaii with him!"
I watched as Heath meant to only glance at my reaction until he saw the look on my face. I turned out Brennen congratulating her, unaware that I was on the verge of running off the side of the dock before his very eyes. I let my mouth stay open for a moment, unable of forming a sentence. Heath looked at me with pity for a moment befor I saw his eyes glaze over into something more... He didn't care how I had realized he moved on just a little over a month after our split. He didn't care how he took her to Hawaii with my tickets. He didn't care that he knew how unhappy I was without him. He just.... He did not care a single ounce about me anymore.*****
I was out towards the end of the bot, leaning over the side with a vodka sprite that I had been drinking. I sighed, looking down at the water as it crashed underneath the weight of the boat, unusually clear for Los Angeles water. The smell of salty air filled my lungs, allowing me to feel as though I was twenty pounds lighter. I felt heat touch my arm and assumed it was Brennen until I heard the voice, making me abruptly look over at him. "Hey." I stayed silent, looking over all of Todd's features carefully, not knowing if he was only speaking to me because of the amount of alcohol in his system. "No, I'm not drunk. I came to say hey."
I raised an eyebrow. "Hey... Why are you over here?"
"I missed talking to you when I would smoke." Todd took out a little blue, glass bowl that I had got him for his birthday two years ago. I gave him a shocked look, not just because he was speaking to me, but because he still used it. I watched him lean over the side of the boat, packing the bowl, and making me nervous he would drop it overboard at any moment. "I just... I have been thinking about all the times we all spent together and I just really miss it. Like... I remember when no one but you believed me about that shit that happened in my room with the ghost in the old house."
"Eventually everyone believed it though." I laughed, moving over slightly so our arms didn't brush.
"Yeah, but not until you made everyone believe it. Plus, what about all the times you calmed me down when I was fucked up and no one else could!" Todd put the bowl to his lips, taking a hit. I watched him hold his breathe as he spoke, before taking his second hit after his sentence. "I'm just saying... I think it's a little ridiculous that everyone is being such a fucking baby about you being around."
"I know. David mentioned it to me last night... He came by to try and tell me that everyone is just waiting for me to speak to them, but I don't believe it. Like the only ones I can think of that are probably like that are the girls, minus Gabbie, and that's about it. The rest of the boys are Team Heath." I rolled my eyes as Todd passed me his bowl and lighter.
I hesitated for a moment before taking the bowl and pressing it to my lips, handing Todd my drink to hold in the mean time. I took my hit while Todd continued to explain his point of view. "Uhm, you're actually quite wrong 'bout that one. The only boys that are on his side are Zane and Kam. Kam doesn't want to see Heath be destroyed and Zane is too much of a pussy to stand up for what he really believes... Which is that the only one that deserves to be upset still is Gabbie. She was the one that really got fucked over by all of this. But like... She forgave Zane and Heath forgave him, too, so I don't get the big deal." Todd laughed as I exhaled, laughing lightly at both his words and how I forgot how great of weed he always had. I took my second hit while he continued. "I think maybe you should start slow and talk to Elton and Scott first... Then work your way up the latter."
I gave Todd back his bowl and he gave me back my drink. He took the last hit before the end, offering me the last one, though I denied. "You know me, though... I like to challenge myself and then hate myself when I fail." I turned around, my elbows leaning on the metal bar behind me. I looked off to inside the boat, seeing Zane laughing loudly next to Gabbie and Heath through a tinted window. I swore he had stared at me for a moment, but that also could have been my high starting to kick in. "Do you hate me?"
Todd laughed, standing in front of me as he put away his piece back into his pocket. "I never hated you and I never will. Quite frankly, I always assumed you would end up back with Heath." He shrugged.
"I don't think that'll happen anymore." I shook my head, fixing my hair as it blew in the wind underneath my snapback.
"Don't say never." I felt my eyes pop out of their skull before Todd explained himself. "I love Amber and I think she would be perfect for Heath... In ten years. He's too immature. She's a fucking perfect person and I really o adore her, d0on't get it twisted, but, like... She deserves so much better than Heath. You? You get him. It's not like you're immature, but you guys can joke around on the same level together. You guys just... You mesh. I think it's sad because I know he's crazy for her, but I think she lowkey knows that this isn't going to last." I went to say something, though Toddy shrugged, speaking over his shoulder as he walked off. "Elton is downstairs if you still want to start small... Or go hate yourself and grab Zane. I'm gonna go grab another beer!"
