"It's not my fault! I don't like it, they're weird." I pushed Heath's hand away as he shoved a small, plastic container of salsa verde at me.
"Strangest little Latina I have ever met." Heath laughed, putting the cup down on his tray in front of him. I picked up my third taco, feeling like a bottomless pit, and Heath shook his head. "How did you lose weight, yet eat like this?"
"I go to the gym more." I shrugged, chewing the mouthful that was shoved into my mouth. "I use that rage of being isolated and abandoned for almost a year and I feed off of it. It made me get rid of my hips though!"
"You aren't gonna let this shit go, huh?" Heath smirked, knowing I was only kidding. He took a packet of hot sauce, throwing it at my chest jokingly. "What a fucking brat."
"I'm still your brat though, right, daddy?" I whined dramatically, acting as if I was slightly moaning as I said it. Heath reached over, pinching my wrist as I did so. I snapped my hand away, yelping like a wounded dog. "Hey! That wasn't nice!"
"Didn't you use to like pain?" Heath narrowed his eyes, speaking in a sarcastic tone.
"I also used to like your dick down my throat, yet here we are." I put my hands out to the side, looking around us dramatically. Heath laughed and took a sip of his fountain soda while I spoke in a more serious tone. "I'm going to keep asking this until you eventually beat me for it, but we are okay, right? Like we are friends? Not just... Not just-"
"Not just faking it to keep the peace with everyone?" Heath finished my sentence and I sat back in my chair, a tight smile on my face to signal he was right. "I am genuinely, one-hundred and ten percent okay with being your friend."
I smiled and let out a sigh of relief. "Okay, good... What about Zane? What the fuck is his deal?"
"After the Brennen shit I think he distanced himself so he looked like the good guy." Heath shrugged going back to his food until he saw my face. "What?"
"What Brennen shit?"
"I wanted more evidence before I told you but I guess you found some yourself... Zane kinda, maybe, knew Brennen cheated." Heath gave me a look, praying silently I wasn't going to choke him across the table. "I'm sorry. I should have said something sooner."
"I'm not mad, it's over and done with." I shook my head, steadying my angered breathing. "I think Zane needs to just grow balls and talk to me. Like he-"
Heath's phone rang, the caller ID saying 'Ambie with a deer emoji and red heart', as the FaceTime call rang. I motioned for him to pick it up and he did, smiling happily. "Hey, baby! You going to sleep?"
"You seem happier than before... Yes, I am." She sounded slightly suspicious.
"Yeah, I'm just out with Kam getting some food." Heath rubbed the back of his neck and I prayed she didn't know that was a nervous tick of his. "You have another early day tomorrow?"
"Yeah... It's gonna be a long one. We are preparing for the first trial." Amber groaned, sounding as if she was moving her blanket and sheets. "How about tomorrow we have some fun and forget about this past week?"
"Yeah... Forget it." I could hear the hurt in Heath's voice, though he continued to smile widely.
"Have a good night, baby." Amber said in a teasing tone. "I love you."
"Yeah... you too, baby." Heath hung up the phone, frowning as he put it on the table. "Don't say shit."
"Fine. I won't. But you know damn well what I'm thinking, Heath." He bowed his head, shaking it yes slightly. "Hey... I have an idea."
"What?" Heath perked up.
"Why don't we go to that shooting range tomorrow? My treat." I smiled hopefully.
Heath shook his head, no. "I have to upload something tomorrow... I'm really not in the mood and I didn't film enough with Amber to make even a David-length vlog."
"What if I helped you film?" A smile reappeared on Heath's face. "We always joked it would be funny if we filmed the ex challenge..."
"I'll ask Amber if she is comfortable about it and let you know tomorrow morning." Heath smiled. "Thanks."
"What are friends for?" I said sarcastically as I snapped my fingers at him and pointed with my hands in little gun-like positions. "Plus, Charlie misses you."
