Amber clenched the cup of coffee I had made her in her hands as she sat across from Heath and I on the couch in between Gabbie and Will. Will was rubbing her back, trying to keep her from breaking down. Gabbie looked on with a saddened expression, a glass of rosé twirling in a red solo cup. Heath rubbed the top of my thigh while simultaneously petting the top of Charlie's head that was panting along side of him. I ran a hand through my hair, breaking the silence by clearing my throat to gain everyone's eyes. "Look, I don't mind playing the bad guy. She will come around and talk to me, I know it. But I don't want any of you getting involved. Let me take the bullet on this one."
"This is my fault though. I should have-"
"You did exactly what I told you to do because you trusted me. None of this is on you." I shook my head, laughing awkwardly. "I did this because I rather her hate me than drag you guys into the line of fire. Trust me, she will be fine."
"Thank you." Will said for Amber who was about to counteract with a novel of why I was wrong. She looked up at him and he kissed her forehead, rubbing her back before turning back to me. "Do you... I mean, I don't know everyone how you guys know them. I don't want to seem like I'm making rash judgements... But do you actually think they're over? I mean... They seem like-"
"Soul mates? Yeah, because they are." Gabbie giggled, sipping her wine. She crossed her legs sloppily, bouncing her leg up and down as she did so. "They'll be back together soon enough. Everyone seems to forget that time Kristen gave that guy head at EDC and Scott was mad for a week before getting over it."
"Holy... That was like when they first got together!" Heath's eyes widened. He looked down at me, seeing my confused expression. "It was before I even met you. Kristen and Scott were only together, like, a year or something."
"I had no idea about it, what the hell?" I looked at Gabbie, waiting for an explanation.
"She told me that everyone knew so she never wanted to bring it up again. I assume Heath blabbed it to you." Gabbie shrugged, finishing off her wine only seconds before refilling her cup. "Either way, my ass is off to bed. You guys want to stay?"
Amber and Will got up, setting Amberms coffee on the table in front of them. She shook her head, wiping a stray tear that had stained her cheek. "No, it's fine. I have to get home and do some work and Will has a surgery tomorrow."
"Separation conjoined twins." Will gave us a nervous look, followed by a tight smile. "So excited for eighteen hours of playing doctor!"
"How fun!" Heath rolled his eyes, shaking his hand as we stood up. He crossed over to hug Amber goodbye as I did the same to Will.
"Stop stressing." I whispered in Amber's ear as I hugged her tightly. "You're a good person and did the right thing."
"Thank you." She pulled away from me, a small sparkle in her eye from the tears reflecting on the overhead lights in the living room. Will and her made their way out, Gabbie closing and locking the door behind them.
Gabbie waved goodnight to us and I watched as Heath cleaned up the living room, jutting his head to the stairs. I nodded, heading up to my bedroom and straight to my dresser. I quickly changed into an oversized, black t-shirt with a pair of my cuter, red lace cheekies. I flopped onto my bed, hearing Charlie's feet followed by Heath's coming up to the loft.
I opened my arms wide as Heath turned on the television and Xbox, handing my the controller. I quickly flipped to Jane the Virgin and earned an eye roll from Heath. He instinctively began to take off his shirt and jeans as I watched the episode I had paused in the middle of. I tried to ignore him, fixating my eyes on the program, though I also couldn't help myself. I had nearly forgotten what it was like to sleep with anyone, let alone what it was like with Heath.
Heath took his socks off before sliding under the covers, throwing the blanket over me as well. I placed he controller to my side, rolling over when I felt a pair of arms slither around my waist and pull me into him. I smiled, a warm feeling engulfing my chest and heating up every inch of my skin. I turned around, facing Heath, as he kept his arms around me. He smiled lightly, kissing me just the same before speaking in a hushed tone. "I can't even remember he last time we did this."
"Yes you can. You just try to block that phase out of our lives." I kissed him, giggling at my dry tone while he shook his head. I moved my hands up to the sides of his neck, rubbing my fingers against his skin gently. "You know, I missed my bed smelling like smoke and that shitty cologne."
"You know, it's funny you say that. After we broke up, anytime I smelled coconut I would get mad." Heath laughed, referring to my hair and body lotion. "The one thing I missed was how amazing my shower would smell after you use it."
"I'm happy we're better." Heath agreed against my lips before I moved away again. I ran a hand lightly through his beard, avoiding his eyes as I stumbled on my words slightly. "You would, I don't know... You would tell me if something was wrong right?" Heath waited for me to explain myself before answering. "What were you talking to Amber about at the party?"
Heath quickly answered, almost like he had been waiting for me to ask it all night. "Just some stuff about her and Will and us. We were just catching up. Is someone jealous?"
"The only person I'm jealous of is Amber for getting to lay on top of Mount Perfection every night." I joked, causing Heath to frown dramatically. He gave me his little puppy dog eyes, grabbing my hips, and rolling me on top of him. I straddled him, leaning my hands on his chest as he kept his at the sides of my thighs. "Oh wow! Look at this! Mount Bud Light!"
Heath rolled me off of him, landing me on my back. I laughed, moving myself so he held me from behind on our sides. "Time for sleep, ya' rude bitch. Goodnight."

I woke up to the sound of Gabbie screaming my name at the top of her lungs. Upon realizing that it wasn't just a dream, I sprang up from my bed. Heath followed moments after me once he realized what was going on. Nearly tripping down the stairs, we saw Gabbie watching David's vlog he had posted early before his trip to Chicago. Gabbie looked back at us, her face a shade of red I was nearly sure was almost inhuman. "He posted the fight... The entire fight."
