Gabbie was wrong, I did not forget.
Amber had only increased her "subtle", not so subtle, flirting with Heath. It had increased to the point of Liza pulling me aside as we all went swimming on the second to last day before we went home.
I treaded water as I shook my head as she had ranted over not understanding why she was getting close to him again. "I mean, Jesus Christ, it's not like he's... Let me stop. It's disrespectful to you and I'm sorry."
"Only thing disrespectful here is the way they're acting." I crossed my arms, kicking harder to stay afloat. "Dumbasses acting like they're just friends."
"I get it." Liza laughed, fixing her black bikini top as it began to ride up from treading water. "I hate when David is around Corinna, in all honesty. I know he would never do anything, but she... I lost trust in her."
"Especially with the whole Scott and Kristen bullshit." I whispered, as Scott and Kristen held each other a few feet away from us. "The bitch is dick hungry."
David swam over, kissing Liza's cheek quickly, before swimming over to Todd and Zane speaking with a beer in their hands, leaning against the dock. I smiled happily as Gabbie came over to us, her and Kristen bringing a drink to Liza and I. "A cosmo for the lady and a vodka tonic for the alcoholic."
I smirked, drinking the glass of liquid fire with a slight sense of urgency. I smiled, grabbing onto Gabbie's shoulder tightly. "Grey Goose? You shouldn't have. I love you!"
Gabbie laughed as she dipped on her martini. "What can I say, I remember my baby's favorites."
"Vodka tonic?" Will swam over to us, though his chest was mostly out of the water compared to us. "I would have pegged you for a whiskey on the rocks kind of gal."
"Only when I know the whiskey they're serving. I'm picky." I shrugged, taking another swish of my drink before looking off to see Heath and Amber swimming over to us. Heath snaked his arms around my waist, allowing me to not have to work as hard at staying afloat. Heath put his head on my shoulders and I put my glass up to his lips. He took a small sip before frowning. "I'm sorry! It's not my fault."
"I hate Grey Goose so much." He shook his head in disgust. He kissed the side of my neck, still frowning in disgust. "Thank you for trying."
Will laughed, throwing back a swig of his Corona. "I don't blame you for a minute, man. That crap is like nail polish remover."
"Good man!" He high fived him him with a laugh, smiling widely at me. "I like him."
I patted Heath's cheek, kissing the side of his temple gently. "Yes, sweetie. Yes."
Gabbie giggles next to me, shaking her head as I gave her a look. "By the way, did you check out your email?" I raised an eyebrow at her before seeing her jaw drop, Kristen and Liza's included. "It's the twenty-seventh, Katie."
I broke free of Heath and began to rapidly doggy paddle, holding my right arm with my drink in the air, towards the dock. I finally reached it, floating next to Todd and Zane. I looked over at them in a panic, directing my eyes more towards Todd. "Can you give me a boost? I need to get my phone, now."
Zane came closer to me instead, grabbing my hips. He hoisted me up, his hands slipping lower towards the back of my upper thigh to push me up. My skin grew intensely hot as his touch left me and I hid my face as I quickened my pace to my bag. I picked it up, grabbing my phone to begin the process of loading my email.
I opened the safari and hit the G-mail logo that was on the front page. I watched as the page began to load... and load... and load... and load. My knees began to weaker and I ran in place, annoyed at the lack of WiFi we were able to have in the middle of no where. "Anything?"
I looked down at Gabbie, frowning, as I walked closer towards the side of the private dock. I shook my head, looking up. The sun was beating down over our private swimming area. Our hotel had a secluded section of the local beach that was for VIP guests only and we were, apparently, the only ones staying there currently. "Nothing. I'm just going to- Fuck! It loaded. Hang on!" I began to scroll through my inbox before I saw what I was looking for. I clicked it, my hands trembling as my eyes sped faster than it took for my brain to fully process the words I was reading.
I looked up slowly from my phone, seeing everyone looking at me with confused expressions. I chucked back the rest of my drink as Liza laughed. "Did you get it?"
"We got it." My voice cracked as I screamed excitedly. "We got the fucking deal! My book is finally happening!"
Within seconds, Heath jumped up on the dock and grabbed me by my hips. I jumped up, hugging him like a spider monkey as I crossed all of my limbs around his body. "Clickbait is going to be a killer. I'm so proud of you."
