Katie's P.O.V
I had gotten dressed in the bathroom with the help of Gabbie. She pulled over a pink crewneck that I always wore as a dress and my Adidas slides, brushing out my hair for me as she threw it into a messy bun. We stepped out of the room and I saw Heath and Zane smiling proudly. Heath looked tired as he was the only one who had not left since I got here, despite looking and sounding like he was on his death bed. I shook my head, pointing towards the door. "Go... I'm serious, go. I can't get into Big Red right now if I tried anyway." Heath frowned at me, coughing lightly and reaching for his inhaler. "I also don't want whatever shit is brewing inside of you."
"Fair enough." He smiled, walking over to me as Zane follows him. Heath's tired expression was worse than I thought, though his glasses may have helped to magnify it. He wrapped his arms tightly around my upper half, kissing the side of my head. "If you need anything, call me."
"Get some rest." Heath pulled away and Zane immediately held onto me, rubbing my back lightly. "You too... And a shower."
"Let us know when you get home safe." Zane said to Gabbie, giving her a quick hug.
When the boys were gone we began to pack up what few things I had here. Gabbie quickly shooed me away, allowing me to take a moment to sit at the side of my bed and rest. "You know... Zane and Andrea are fighting. He said it's because she's not that smart... Go figure."
I smiled at her, looking back at the window that was directly above the crowded parking lot. I sighed as Gabbie zipped my overnight bag, slinging it over her shoulder. "Do you think it's normal Heath was as scared as he was?"
"I think..." Gabbie spoke in a soft voice that I wasn't used to coming from her. "I think I wouldn't expect anything less coming from him." I looked back at her, as she jutted her head towards the door. "Come on, girl. Let's get you home. Kam brought over a huge pot of cheddar and broccoli soup just for you."

The next two weeks was spent with bed rest, soup from Chef Kameron, and watching all fourteen seasons of Law and Order: SVU from start to finish. I was currently hugging my third Gatorade of the morning, bored out of my mind. Gabbie had hidden my keys as to make sure I wouldn't sneak out and drive before I got my stitches out.
Heath was currently in the kitchen helping himself to a cup of Kam's chicken noodle soup before we headed back to the hospital. He was finally feeling better, though still using his inhaler just in case. I also was finally due to get my stitches removed. I groaned as I looked over, seeing Heath having made a second bowl for me. I got up, waddling over, and rolling down my black sweatpants carefully. I sat at the kitchen island, wincing. Heath spoke through a mouthful of chicken. "It still is painful?"
"I had Gabbie hide my Vicodin just in case I..." I looked back up at Heath before putting my Gatorade on the table and starting my soup. "She took my keys, too."
Heath laughed, rolling his eyes as he looked at her closed bedroom door. Gabbie was filming today and I refused to let her skip another week in order to take care of me. "How's it like living together again?"
"Like she never left." I smiled. "How's it like being with the boys again?"
"Like I never left." Heath smiled and a comfortable silence fell over us. His phone rang as he put another spoonful of soup into his mouth and he looked at it quickly, turning the volume down and letting it go to voicemail.
I looked at the stove, seeing it was noon. "It's noon. Amber is on her lunch break... You're not going to answer?"
"I'll tell her I was driving, it's fine." Heath brushed off, immediately changing the subject. "Hey, when can you eat solids again?"
"As long as my scans from yesterday come back today and are decent, right after I leave the hospital. Why?" I raised an eyebrow as I fixed my messy bun.
"I was planning a little welcome home with Liza at her house... I know you can't drink for another month, but Kam and I will cook a buffet for you if you wanted." He smiled proudly and an alarm set off in my head that reminded me to talk about this with Gabbie later.
"I'd like that... Only if you made your mango chicken. I miss that shit." Heath shook his head, his mouth full of the rest of his soup. "Let's go. I want to get in and get the fuck out."
Heath went to the key ring next to the door, taking Gabbie's keys as she didn't want me getting in and out of the truck and offered them to him earlier. He opened the door, motioning for me to exit first and I left, feeling his eyes planted onto me and I cursed my stitches for not allowing me to sway my hips the way I would have liked.
