I frowned at the ceiling, the alarm on my phone blaring in the side of my face. Charlie got up, pawing at my bare thigh as if to tell me to move my lazy self. I groaned, leaning up on my elbows behind me and staring at him. I shook my head, ruffling the top of his head as I grabbed my phone to turn the alarm off. I got up and walked towards my dresser, preparing my outfit for the day. Stripping quickly, I change into a black t-shirt that I twisted the front to make into a crop top, light-washed skinny jeans with rips at the knees, and my white converse.
I threw my hair into a messy ponytail, opting for no makeup, as I ran down the stairs with Charlie. I slid my phone into my back pocket, grinning at Gabbie who was drinking her morning coffee while watching the television. "You're not fucking serious, are you?"
I crossed my arms over my chest, shaking my head, no. "Bitch, get up. I told you last night I was serious!"
"I thought that was the Pinot talking!" Gabbie shrugged, getting off the couch. She went to the kitchen, washing out her cup as she grabbed her phone and car keys off the counter. She walked to the front door, hand on the knob as she gave me a once over. "Are you positive, Katie?"
"HIV." Gabbie gave me a stern look as I laughed, shooing her outside.

I decided to Uber back from the salon as Gabbie had needed to go see Carly and Erin to shoot her vlog. I FaceTimed don't her, her reaction to my reckless decision being better than I could have ever hoped. I still had another choice to make, though I decided to save it for when I was drunk and the time was right. Kam had invited me over to have lunch with him as the boys had left him alone in the house. I happily walked up to their front door, being greeted by a cheerful Kameron. He was in a light blue button-up and his black skinny jeans, his apron slightly messy with a hand towel hanging over his left shoulder. He hugged me and kissed my cheek quickly, motioning for me to come inside. "I made a fruit salad, without kiwi because Heath told me you would die, and some homemade pasta with a strawberry vinaigrette."
"I look like a fucking shamrock and you're buttering me up with food?" I raised an eyebrow, pointing to my mint green hair that was up in a ponytail.
Kam laughed, his dimples deepening and his eyes squinting as he did so. "I'm sorry! I'm sorry, you're right! You look hot."
I heard footsteps behind me as I entered the kitchen and I turned around, hearing a small gasp come from Heath's mouth as he stood in a towel, shirtless. He had on his glasses, making his eyes appear wider. "I thought... I..."
"I've swallowed your kids, you can chill with that." I laughed, putting my hand out to signal him to stop fidgeting with the top of his towel.
Before Heath could answer, Amber came out of his room in a towel as well. Her cheeks flushed for a moment before she decided to only briefly mention my presence. "Nice break-up hair! Hey Kam, can you put some away for me? It's going to be a late night."
"Sure!" Kam gave her a tight smiled, attempting to hide his annoyance. "Want to eat my balls as well?"
"Excuse me?" Amber raised an eyebrow, gripping her towel tightly as she held onto Heath's upper arm.
"I made homemade meatballs to go along with the fettuccine tonight!" He smiled smugly.
Heath and I tried not to laugh as Amber rolled her eyes. "Funny... Yes, please." She looked back at me and I instantly stopped trying to laugh, realizing that I had never seen this side of her. "Heath, can you help me pick out something to wear?"
Heath followed her like a puppy, shutting the door behind them as they proceeded to blast Steel Panther. I bit the inside of my cheek, turning towards Kam. "Do you think the music was a coincidence or a fuck you?"
"She's nervous because Brennen called Heath last night saying how you broke up with him." Kameron rolled his eyes, beginning to plate my lunch for me. He grabbed a can of ginger ale from the fridge, passing it towards me. "Drink it with that, it tastes fresher than drinking coke or something."
"Thank you, Kam." I smiled, taking the fork he offered me. He leaned across from me, standing to eat as he swore he liked it better than sitting. "You... I... What is there to be nervous of? He and I are friends."
"I couldn't tell you, honestly." Kam rolled his eyes, popping a piece of strawberry into his mouth. "Personally, I think she's just scared you'll find out he..."
Kam trailed off, staring with wide eyes at the island. I chewed the pasta in my mouth slowly as I spoke. "Find out what, Kameron?"
I narrowed my eyes as he spoke, getting increasingly annoyed. "So, Heath knew that Brennen had cheated because Zane told him. Before you get angry... Heath wanted to tell you. I was the one that told him not to get involved unless he had physical evidence of it himself because I don't trust Zane."
I felt my anger decrease, nodding my head aimlessly. "You don't trust Zane?"
"I don't trust anyone that thinks Andrea is more than a gutter slut." Kam shrugged, causing me to laugh. "They've been off and on more than a fucking light switch."
I threw my hair over my shoulder, twirling the ends as I took a sip from my ginger ale can. There was a moment of silence between us and all that could be heard was the music in Heath's room and the crashing of the headboard repeatedly on the wall. "Can I be honest with you?"
"No one talks to me that doesn't live in this house... And Gabbie. I have no one important to tell." Kameron giggled but I could hear the low key sadness in his voice.
I bit my bottom lip before speaking. "I may or may not have accidentally hooked up with Elton."
Kam laughed loudly, nearly barking. "I know. He told me after it happened because he was hyped as fuck." I frowned until Kam got me to laugh. "He said he never had better, if that helps."
I laughed, rolling my eyes. "Yeah, well, it was a once only kind of thing... Does that make me a bad person?"
"No. A bad persons wouldn't be questioning if they're a bad person. The only thing they would be doing is more bad shit." Kam shrugged, fixing his hair under his black snapback quickly. He leaned his elbows on the table, holding his face in his hands. "You're a great person, Katie. Truly. I think... I think you need to spend some time being yourself before you decide to be with someone new... Or old."
"He would never... I fucked us up for good." I shook my head, annoyed with myself.
"Amber got a new job offer in Michigan." My ears perked up immediately. "She would be gone until January 4th, which is about six months... It's one thing to be in a long distance, but, like... Heath isn't someone who can be in a long distance relationship."
"Is she definitely leaving?" I tried to hide the excitement from my voice.
"I don't know. I think so... I would if I was her. She worked hard for this shit, nothing should keep her from going." Kam sighed. "If she goes, I know they will be on a break. I just... I hope they do. Amber deserves so much better."
"She's a thought bitch." I agreed.
"She would be a defense attorney for the second larger firm in the country... She must be on crack if she doesn't take it." Kam laughed. "I'm going to try be convince her tonight... Heath doesn't do shit for her, dude. He treats her like she's just a fucking tube sock with lube."
I went to answer before moaning interrupted us. My eyes went wide as I frowned at Kam. "Wanna go out for dessert? Carly, Erin, and Gabbie went to Fro-Yo and-"
"Lets fucking go, I'll grab my keys." Kam raced to the keys on the wall near the front door and I followed him.
