Katie's P.O.V
I was straightening my hair while watching television in the family room of my loft. I had decided to get ready to go run errands before Brennen had come over to go to lunch with me. I had put on a black, light sweater with a white collar attached to it with matching black leggings and black creepers. My makeup consisted of a metallic, deep red lip with a classic nude eyeshadow with winged eyeliner. Yawning, I finished my hair up and turned my straightener off. I got up and walked to the kitchen, beginning to make coffee to put into a to-go cup. As I was nearly finishing, I heard my front door beginning to open. I peeked over my shoulder, seeing Brennen's hair before the rest of his body. "Uhm... It's only ten, Bren."
He smiled brightly, closing and locking the door behind him. I mentally smiled, my heart becoming warm when I realized he remembered to do so because he knew it was important to me. "I know, but I had a surprise for you." He came over to me and I admired his build in a black tank top that as baggy, matching distressed skinny jeans, and blindingly-bright white Nike high-tops. Brennen pulled me closer to him by one arm around, rubbing his thumb on my lower back as he quickly kissed me hello. I smiled against his lips, the sense of guilt creeping in while he spoke. "My god, you're gorgeous."
I shook my head, putting the lid on my to-go cup. I grabbed my keys on my counter, following him out to his car. Throughout the car ride, Brennen would hold my hand, squeezing it tightly as he would obnoxiously sing every song on the radio. My heart skipped when he would sing at me at every traffic light, nearly forgetting to drive when it turned green each time. With every turn in the car, I regretted not taking care of errands instead of having to deal with the pit of guilt in my stomach. Turning down another street, Brennen lowered the radio. I scrunched my nose at him, jokingly. "Come on! You know I love Ed Sheeran."
"What's wrong with you?{" He gave me an odd look, using his wrist to drive.
I felt taken back, though nervous he knew something. "What do you man?"
"You aren't making a comment about my shitty voice." Brennen laughed. "You always remind me I can't sing. Was it the party?"
"Honestly, I-"
"I know, I know. I'm sorry. I'll stop dragging you to that shit until you want to come. I shouldn't have forced you." He shook his head, sighing headcinky he let go of my hand, wrapping it around my left thigh. He squeezed it while he continued to rant. "I thought it would be a good idea, but I was also told Amber wouldn't be there. I don't know, maybe this isn't my place to say this... But I think you and her would be great friends."
"Are you high?" I interrupted, laughing to the point of sounding like a squawking bird. "She's a high class, too educated, head up her ass-"
"She's not rich at all, she's worked her for her wallet. She's on a full-ride to law school, okay, I would have my head in my ass and shouting my accomplishments through a megaphone if I was her." Brennen said, beginning to park.
"You like her so much, why don't you go date her?" I crossed my arms, becoming irritated.
"I like little blonde bitches with attitude." Brennen mocked me, quickly kissing me before I was able to yell. "Let's go, I wanna make this a good day for you."

We had gone out and walked the boulevard, going into random shops, Brennen buying me something from each one. He had racked up a small, cross necklace, a light grey and an olive colored cardigan, and multiple pairs of earrings. I had not asked for a singly thing, nor expressed verbally that I wanted anything, but he kept saying he could see me looking at things and wasn't leaving until I psmiled. I began to feel as though I was going to vomit, the weight of his kindness nearly unfathomable to my selfish mind. As I began to walk towards his car, he jumped in front of me. "Are you-"
Brennen kissed me hard, catching my breathe in my throat as I snaked my arms around him. He wrapped his arms tightly around my waist, the begas hitting my side as they swung around his wrist. He separated from my lips, moving down and kissing my neck quickly before whispering in my ear. "I have one more surprise for you."
I scrunched my face up not wanting him to spend another penny on me, but was ripped away from my thought when he pulled me forwards by my wrist. I turned on my heel, going to the store that was across the street. I looked at the sign, reading it aloud. "Pup-A-Lots? That's the stupidest name I've ever heard in my life."
"Shut up!" Brennen laughed, opening the door for me. I walked in, the sound of barking puppies filling my ears. I smiled, immediately going towards the white wall with puppy homes stacked on top of each other, house two dogs or so in each one. I made cooing noises at a baby beagle, looking up at Brennen. He smiled, crouching down next to me and balancing himself by holding the side of the wall. "You want to see him?"
"I am... There's a window right here?" I pointed, raising my eyebrow.
"You can take him out." Brennen smirked at me and I Instantly stood up.
He followed suit, not understanding why I became so panicked. "You are not getting me a dog."
"Name your pooch, beautiful." Brennen smiled brightly, his eye lighting up and he saw me jump into his arms out of excitement.
