I slid into the back of my Uber, being greeted by a sweet faced, younger girl. Immediately, she began driving. I quickened my pace at getting my seatbelt on, mildly concerned for her driving skills. Upon looking at her more, I saw she was wearing a black, leather jacket, similar to one I had been eyeing at Nordstrom for the past few months. "Hey! That jacket is adorable."
"You think? I was wondering if it made me look fat." She frowned, though I only saw her piercing eyes in the center window. They weren't a special color, though the shape bared a striking resemblance to a high-priced, purebred cat.
"Absolutely not! You look bomb." I smiled, pulling out my phone and small, plain, black pouch I used to hold a few items. I began to look through everyone's orders, trying to prepare myself before hand. "So does that tattoo. Where do you go to?"
"Aw, you're so sweet! I got these by Brett at Starfire Ink." Instinctively, she brushed her hand over the realistic style monarch butterfly on the back of her neck. "You have beautiful ink, too!"
"Alex at Cow Over the Moon in the Valley. This little guy wasn't his though." I pointed to the cowboy hat I had for Heath, a ping shooting at my heart. I shook my head, trying to push it out of my mind for the time being. "Hey, if you want to wait for me, I'll grab you something too. What do you like?"
"No, it's fine! You don't have to!" The girl waved her hand, trying to shoo my favor off.
"I don't mind." I smiled, shrugging. "My name is Katie, by the way. I use my roommate's Uber and just give her money for it."
"Christiana." She flashed a smile and I noted she had braces. She pulled quickly into a spot closer to the front of the yogurt shop and I felt something in the trunk slam against the back of me. Giving her a frightened look, she waved her hand as she shut off the car. "Don't worry! It's my gym bag and a few weights I use for class. I picked you up on a day I have my kickboxing class."
I shrugged, getting out of the car. As I slammed the door behind me shut, I proceeded to walk next to her into the frozen yogurt shop. "I totally am jealous. I have to start going again, I fell back on my routine."*****
Christiana and I began to chitchat, joking around as she helped me form the group's orders. After paying, she helped me carry everything to the car, laughing as we tried to balance everything. We placed them in the front seat, carefully.
As I got into the back seat, Christiana got into the driver's side, cursing when she sat down. Looking over her shoulder, I saw her hand was covered in what looked like her cake batter yogurt. "God damnit! This is what I get for overfilling my shit!" I giggled, causing her to smirk. She pointed next to me. "Hand me that shirt that's behind me, will ya?"
I dug in the pocket of her newer Honda, finding a black t-shirt. I didn't notice until she uses it as a rag, though I found that odd within itself, that it had the Salty Crew logo in it. Immediately, I felt the hairs on the back of my hand stand up as I watched her more closely. She began to clean off her hand and watch, tapping it excessively. "Is your watch okay?"
"Yeah!" She breathed a sigh of relieve as the Apple Watch lit up. "I just got this thing a few days ago, too! I would have flipped."
I tried to push every red flag out of my mind as I laughed, appearing as normal as I could feel. I immediately texted Amber what was happening, also allowing her to see my location in case... Well, just in case. I also added the description and Christiana's name, wondering if Amber had ever seen or heard of her. Amber nearly immediately texted back words that I prayed she wouldn't say.
Does she have a tattoo on the back of her neck of a butterfly?
