"You cynical bitch." Gabbie laughed, driving to the girl's we all were having at Liza's house that evening. "How the hell do you think Heath is going to react?"
"The same way he reacted to Zane and I." I frowned. "Like a bat out of hell."

We had spent the rest of the week filming and not much else. However, I had been texting Heath nonstop and Gabbie had also recently met a new boy named Andrew. She was going to be taking him to the party tonight as I was going with Heath.
We had been in the living area of David's new place, admiring the view off the balcony. David came up to us, smiling widely at Heath and I with a Diet Coke in his hand. "You guys like it?" Before we could answer, he continued to speak. "I think it's gonna be perfect for filming. Liza adores it. Especially the view."
"How did you convince Liza to let you get this place?" Heath raised an eyebrow, fixing the collar on his all black, button up shirt that paired nicely with his black, distressed jeans and classic Vans. I had taken note that he was wearing almost everything new and none of which I thought was his personal style, and reminded myself to question him later. "I mean... This, the apartment, her place... How the fuck?"
David laughed, shrugged his shoulders. "All I had to do was remind her that we could get a pool with this one."
I smiled, wrapping both hands around my glass of pinot grigio as I watched Gabbie laugh across the room, Andrew wrapping his arm around his waist as his taller figure pulled her into his chest, kissing the top of her head. I fixed my eyes back to David, smiling proudly at him. "Well I'm sure she's happy she won't have to worry about cockroaches or snakes in her house anymore."
"I wouldn't be too sure of that." David winked, laughing as he hit his tongue. I felt disgusted, thinking of how someone as sweet as Liza had to go to bed with the spawn of Satan on a nightly basis, though I laughed along with Heath at him. "Excuse me while I go and check on the back room."
"Lucifer was only kidding... Right?" I looked at Heath quickly, panicking. Heath looked down at me, his eyes widening. "Heath, tell me he was kidding."
Before Heath could say something, I watched as his eyes were locked into something behind me. I turned around quickly, seeing Amber holding the hand of a very tall, muscular, Latino man. His chiseled jawline could have sliced the new diamond necklace that adorned her neck as it radiated off of his award winning smile. His hair was slightly messy, though it was evident he took the time to style that along with his perfectly trimmed facial hair. What looked to be a new, navy blue suit with a black skinny tie and white undershirt fit his body perfectly and I stared in amazement as his black, leather shoes made their way to in front of myself and Heath. He held out his hand, smiling widely at Heath. "Hello! I'm Will. You must be Heath, right? Amber has told me so much about you, it's awesome to meet you, man!"
"Same here, pal." Heath smiled awkwardly as he shook Will's hand. "I hear you're a lawyer with her."
"Lawyer, M.D, author, former MLB player, and avid fisher." I rattled off, feeling my body go limp as I held out my hand. "Hello, I'm Katie. I read your book on the theory of chronic traumatic encephalopathy and found it absolutely insane."
"Really, now? Most people don't actually peeper that one. Thank you, that means a lot to me. You're katie, right?" He smiled warmly, his hand firmly shaking my own before he released it, wrapping it around Amber's arm. "Amber never told me you, or anyone for that matter, knew anything about me."
"In her defense, we haven't always been b-f-f's." I laughed softly. "However, I'm really happy to know that she's with someone who can dissect the human brain while also winning a Supreme Court case."
He went to shake his head when Amber spoke for him. "Don't dismiss what she said! She's right!" Amber smiled at him proudly before looking at myself, and I noted she was ignoring Heath's gaze. "He's extremely modest."
Heath mumbled something under his breath and Amber no longer ignored his gaze. Before Amber could snap at him, Will jumped in. "Amber told me you were into fishing?"
"Not so much out here. I like to do it more so at home." Heath said bitterly.
"Well, that's because you've never been to my spot!" Will smiled and I watched as Heath's gaze began to lighten up. "It's in the Huntington Flats. How about you let me know, whenever you're free, and I'll set up a day trip. I have a boat that we can take out, nothing fancy, just big enough that it doesn't tip over in the waves. I've been catching some insane halibut over there, man!"
"How about the WSB?" Heath asked, clearly trying to test Will's knowledge.
"I'm not into the sea bass. I mean, I've caught a few that could pass as small toddlers!" Will joked, putting his hands in his suit pockets as he rocked back and forth on his heels. "But I'm really into Halibut and sometimes the Yellowtail, just for sport obviously."
I watched as Amber smiled proudly up at Will before looked over my shoulder to see Scott and Kam talking. "Hey, Will? I want you to meet some more people. Excuse us!"
"Pleasure meeting you both! Excuse me." Will smiled, shaking both our hands, as he followed Amber with a hand at her lower back.
Heath walked away, swiftly making his way to the backyard. I followed closely behind him, closing the back door behind us. He began speaking once we were alone, looking over the mountain that was the backyard. "Was I really that fucking trashy that she has to go and date Mr. Universe? That dude's jawline has fucking muscles! How am I supposed to compete with that?"
I crossed my arms over my chest, jutting a leg out as I stared at him. "I didn't realize you were in a competition with your ex."
"Don't play that card, you know that's not what I meant!" Heath rolled his eyes, getting fresh. He took a deep breathe, walking over to me. He spoke in a softer tone, though it sounded to me like he was fighting the urge to break down. "I just... I never feel like I'm good enough. I'm either too broke or too immature or too quiet or too loud or-"
I threw my arms around his waist, holding him tightly as I spoke. "You're not too anything. You're you, and you are perfect." I pulled back as he wrapped his hands gently around my shoulders, rubbing circles into them as I spoke. "You've said it yourself, she deserved better... And you're perfect and sweet, caring, smart, sexy, hilarious... But she just needed something else. And that's totally okay."
"He has a fucking boat. And he's fucking nice." Heath whined in his baby voice, causing me to have to hold back laughter. "He's so pretty and I'm so ugly!"
"He is pretty, isn't he?" I paused, running my hands through he's hair as he stared at me shocked. I began to laugh, wrapping my arms around his upper body sloppily. "I'm kidding! I'm totally kidding!"
Heath wrapped his arms tightly around my waist, hoisting me up slightly to have me standing on the tops of his shoes. He smirked down, looking between my lips and eyes as he spoke. "You sure about that? Or if we become best friends, are you going to go behind my back and fuck him?"
I slapped his back jokingly as he laughed. "You know, I don't like this new Heath! You make really mean jokes." I shook my head as he laughed, causing my body to sway slightly. "Speaking of, what is with your new wardrobe? You're dressing like a K-Mart Brennen."
"I know, I know! Zane told me I looked ridiculous too." Heath rolled his eyes. "I tried to... I thought this was what you were into now to." Before I could speak, Heath interrupted me. "And don't act like you didn't change either! Usually I'm one wrong move from watching one of your nipples slip out. Since when do you own something that covers your chest?"
I was wearing a long sleeved, navy blue and white, crop top with high waisted, black leggings and a pair of black, velvet flats. I felt my hair tickle my lower back as I shook my head, laughing. "Don't be a dick! You always said how you wanted me to dress less provocative. Well... Here I am, bitch!"
"Or is that because Brennen used to want you to cover up and you stared to feel guilty?" My face dropped and Heath let me down on the grass, though he kept his hands on my hips. I lowered my arms to holding onto his upper arms and he sighed, explaining himself. "I overheard him once say some shit... I was still mad at you so I didn't say anything, but it made me feel like shit afterwards."
I shrugged, picking at a random fuzz on heath's shoulder to avoid eye contact. "I don't know, it's whatever. I rather not be the center of attention."
Heath grabbed my faced with one of his hands, holding onto my chin. I stared up at him, seeing how doe-like his eyes suddenly became. "Don't ever water down your personality to please anyone else, babygirl. If you want to walk around with nothing but nipple pasties or you want to wear a fucking nun outfit, be my guest. But don't stop doing something because someone has a problem with it."
I smiled, going to lean forward to meet his lips when a hissing sound disrupted me. I looked around the backyard, trying to see if the sprinkler system was getting ready to turn on when I looked eyes with a six-foot long, reptilian beast. Heath tried to meet my gaze when I stumbled backwards, watching the crocodile flick his tail back and forth for a moment.
I ran backwards at first, feeling my heartbeat in my chest when the crocodile began to toddle after me, followed by Heath. I made it to the backdoor first, pounding on the glass when I realized it was locked. "David! David! You fucking cunt! Open this fucking door!"
Heath began pounding on the glass behind me when Will pushed through David and the animal keeper, unlocking the door for us. We fell onto the floor as he closed the door, panting. David laughed wildly as he shoved the camera in our faces. I stared blankly at the ceiling, speaking in a monotone voice. "Get the camera out of my face, David."
William helped Heath off the ground, followed by Heath helping me. We stayed wrapping our arms around each other as we stared out the backyard. The group began to collectively laugh, realizing we weren't in danger anymore. Heath looked at David, shaking his head. "When I told you I was homesick, I didn't mean to bring Florida to me, David."
