Heath's P.O.V
I dropped Katie off at her place, watching her until she got inside completely. She was able to completely hold down solids, or start to anyway, and we decided to have the welcome home party this coming Friday.
I grabbed my phone, setting it up on the dash to FaceTime Amber. She picked up on the first ring as if she was waiting for me. "Hey, baby! I-"
"The fuck? You knew I was calling you to book your flight during lunch before the rates went up?" I raised an eyebrow. "Your flight? To come back here? ... for the Fourth of July?"
I felt my stomach gargle, telling me I had fucked up. "Baby... I'm sorry! I was driving and-"
"Were you with her?" I nearly went through a red light, so taken off by Amber's sudden outburst. I looked away from the road as we were stopped to stare at her. I saw her face was riddled with worry, but I knew she was just sad. "Please don't lie to me."
"Yeah." I rubbed my forehead, feeling a headache about to come on. "I was taking her to the hospital while Gabbie filmed. She was getting her stitches out. That's it."
There was silence on Amber's end and I saw she had gotten back into her rental, throwing her keys down on a wooden coffee table in front of her. "I e-mailed you your ticket. Your flight leaves tomorrow night at nine-fifteen. I'll see you when you get here."
"I love you!" I called and I watched as Amber looked at me, shaking her head before hitting the end button.
