Marga’s POV
Following tradition, the groom sweeps the bride up into his arms and carries her over the threshold to consummate the marriage after the wedding ceremony. Pero hindi namin sinunod ni Andrew yun, neither of us naman kasi thought we would even fall inlove, we used to hate each other nga diba?
Natututlog si Andrew tabi ko- looking as fragile and innocent, and I noticed, looked very happy too. He looked plain and simple, just Andrew, my Andrew.
Biglang nagflashback lahat ng nangyari samin kagabi, it was extraordinary, considering how little of each other’s person we have seen before last night, at ngayon, I can freely see through him this way. So much skin, di katulad nung dati na sobrang ballot sa executive o formal attire. Hindi ako nakuntento, I traced my fingers through his arms, mula sa balikat hanggang sa pulso ng kamay niya. By the time I reached his hand, nagising na siya sabay grasp sa kamay ko na nangingiti pa.
“The world is so unfair to women” ano daw sabi ko? Bakit yun ang sinabi ko?
“Huh?
Tapos kapag kinasal siya eh nawawala pa yung family name niya, I mean she grew up with that name even before she could pronounce it. I mean bakit hindi pwedeng patas lang?” saan nanggaling yun Marga? Nakakahiya ka.
“Bakit? Ayaw mo ba maging Palafargan?
“I’m just thinking out loud, don’t get me wrong.
It spares me the indignity of having our marriage annulled on the grounds of you not liking my family name after your name”
“Annulment agad? Sobra ‘to. Ayokong nag-uusap tayo ng hiwalayan, kasi tayo, ako’t ikaw, we are never gonna be separated, forever and ever na magkasama si Andrew at Margaret kahit pinakapanis na yung family name natin at kahit ilang beses pa uulit-ulitin and consummating na word sa dictionary”
uh oh!
At muli kaming nagsalo to prove how much love there is between the two of us.
Andrew’s POV
I guess it’s greatly true how the saying goes, there’s always light at the end of the tunnel, after the dark chapter of my life, I thought I would never love again, but here I am, happy and could not ask for anything more.
Andito kami sa maliit na conference room ng office ko ngayon, discussing about plans and techniques to close a deal with one prospect project in Macau.
“Ulol! Don’t interrupt me when I’m thinking” pretending to look serious when am really not.
“thinking of Marga” panunuya niya. “She’ll be home soon, now can we get back on our discussion, we’re on the verge on penetrating the Chinese territory here and there you are thinking of your wife during office hours.”
“Kung di lang kita kaibigan I could’ve fired you after saying that, kilalang kilala mo nga ako” sabiko sa kanya.
And we went on with our discussion. Bukod kasi sa busy kami eh am also thinking of Marga, she went on a 3 day holiday with her friends sa Seoul. Ayoko pa sana payagan kasi mamimiss ko siya, but I knew she needed time off and be with her friends, we have the rest of our lives to spend together.
Magaalas-5 na ng hapon when Peter and I decided to adjourn our meeting after completing an outline of our proposal.
“Brad, the gang are gathering up again tonight, sa dati, bar ni Xander, siguro naman ngayon pwede ka na sumama, your wife is away, no need for you to go home early, and the pips haven’t seen you after since alam mo na” pagiimbita ni Peter sakin.
It’s true how I have not been spending time with my circle of friends, more like avoiding my circle of friends, bukod sa busy ako sa company, getting married and all, eh I still feel humiliated after what transpired in New York 3 years ago.
“O ano, I’ll take your silence as a yes, sama ka na Brad, andun lahat ngayon, kakauwi lang ni Mico from Dubai, hahanapin ka rin nun.” Pamimilit ni Peter sa akin.
“I’ll see what I can do”
“K” simple kong nasagot.
Masaya na rin naman na ako ngayon, wala na yung bitter and angry Andrew, so maybe it’s about time I open my doors to other people again, especially friends who have not gave up on me. Kalimutan na yung nakaraan.
