I was swinging on the swings with Izzy. Izzy was talking about how amazing she can ice skate now. Then I see Jace come up to us. "Um....Clary....C-can I talk to you?" He asks. I jump off the swing and land really close to him.
"Yeah....sorry" I say and back away, to give him space. Izzy gets out of the swing and runs away.
"Uh, Clary... I just wanted to say something..." Jace says. He was as red as my hair.
"Jace....breathe.." I remind him. He takes a deep breath in.
"Uh....Clary....I like you...." Jace says. I gulp and start panicking. What do I do?! What do I say?! We're only nine years old! It's not like I can marry him and run away to Guadalajara! My mom would kill me if I get married at nine and run away to Guadalajara!
"I know..." I say and walk away.

I waited nervously as I told Clary I liked her. "I know..." she says and walks away....I blink and see her leave. I wanted to say that I was just joking...but I wasn't. And it hurt that she didn't like me back....
