Kaia had just put Karim down for a nap.  Zayn and the twins were visiting Marian for the afternoon.  It had been a busy past few days.  The day after they had picked out Katia's wedding dress and the bridesmaid dresses, Zayn, Harry, Louis and also Ahmir and Karim had gone to get fitted for their tuxedos.

Zayn had sent her snaps of their  'man time' together and also some regular pictures.  She couldn't help but smile.  It was also the first time in quite a while that she had seen Harry looking relaxed.  She knew that things were a little tense between him and Marian.

After Marian and Harry had left that day, she told Zayn when they were lying in bed how tired Marian had looked and when she didn't think that anyone was looking, she would close her eyes.  Kaia also had to look to see if her chest was moving.  She fought back her tears the entire day, but that night she cried in her husband's arms.  He didn't even have to ask what was wrong as he could already tell.  He too had watched Marian during the day and noticed

She set the kettle to boil and made herself a cup of tea.  It was the first time in quite a while that she'd been alone.  But a part of her valued the silence.  She picked up her book and her mug of tea and headed towards the sunroom and was about to sit down when she heard the doorbell ring.

She went to the door and opened it.  Stunned by who she saw.

"Liam!" She said.  "Um, Zayn isn't here," she said and stepped back and was about to shut the door.

"I'm not here to see Zayn," he said and gave her a smile and held up two child size garment bags.  "I brought Ahmir and Karim's tuxes.  The store called and said they were ready so I figured I'd go ahead and bring them over."

She took the bag from him.  "Um...thanks," she said.  She felt very nervous.  "Did...did you want to come in? Have a cup of tea?" She asked.  "But I'm sure you have better things to do."

He could sense her nervousness and her apprehension.  But he had promised Katia he would work on his friendship with her sister.  He missed Kaia.  He missed their conversations.  He missed their sharing of new music together.

"No, I 'd like that," he said and then followed her inside to the kitchen where she made him a cup of tea.

"We...we can go sit in the sunroom if you'd like."

"Lead the way," he said, even though he knew her house very well.

She sat down on the loveseat that was in the sunroom and he sat down next to her.  She picked up her mug and took a sip and then realized it was still too hot and she burned her tongue.

"So your sister is a bit miffed with you," he said.

"Over her dress?" She said and couldn't help but smirk.

He grinned.  "Yes," he said.  "She wanted me to write Zayn a check for fifty grand to pay you back for it."

"I told her I wanted to pay for it," Kaia said.  "That it was my present.  My gift."

"I know and that's what I told her, but she's as stubborn as you are," he teased her.

Kaia set her mug down and turned to look at him.  "Why are you really here Liam?" She asked him.  "And why are you here alone? Does my sister know you're here?"

He set his mug down too and looked at her.  "The real reason?"

"Yes."

"Your sister wants us to be friends again," he said.  "She said life is too fleeting to worry about things that have happened in the past.  Things that we can't change," he said.  "Things I wouldn't want to change even if I could."
