I AM quite sure that what just happened is not a vivid dream, but a reality. A baffling mystery that even science or magic cannot explain. When I opened my eyes, I was back inside the four corners of my room in the ice breaker ship.

Balak ko pa lang na puntahan si Eleazar para ibahagi sa kanya ang nangyari, pero biglang bumukas ang pinto at pumasok siya. Bakas sa mukha niya ang matinding pag-aalala.

"What happened?" tanong ni Eleazar sa akin.

"I am going to ask you the same thing. And what are you doing here?"

"I felt a surge of unfamiliar Vasi. Not from any of the Protectors or from the Divine Spirits. Have you felt it too?"

Tumango lang ako kay Eleazar at niyaya siya na lumabas ng kwarto ko. Naglakad kami sa ship deck kung saan kaliwa at kanan ang mga tipak ng mga yelo. Ipinaliwanag ko sa kanya ang nangyari at kung paano ko nakita si Jade sa panaginip ko.

I detailed everything except the intimate time that I spent with the Fourth Protector.

"Are you sure you are not dreaming? Did you take any medications? Hindi ka ba lasing?" dagdag na tanong ni Eleazar.

"Jade is under the protection of a Shadow Spirit named Amadeus. He is protecting her from the Endorian Witches. Sabi ni Jade, ang mga witches na ito ang nag-extract ng malaking bahagi ng Karan ni Alarcus, Alvienna at Ahaziah."

"And do you trust this Amadeus?"

"Fucking no! He may be after my son! I need to find Jade. I will protect her from these Endorian Witches even if it costs my life."

"And you are confident that we can beat them?"

"Eleazar, Protectors kayo ni Chase at Addie. All of you are equipped with Vasi. I am confident that three of you can beat the hell out of those Endorian Witches. Wait, are you in doubt? Do you think these Endorian Witches are too powerful?"

"Narinig ko na ang tungkol sa Endorian Witches noon. Nang malaman ko na si Sapphire ay kamukha ni Asharah, may hinala na ako na baka involved siya sa mga legendary Endorian Witches. Raphael, they have the power of Karan from the three Shadow Spirits and I am confident that we can defeat them using our Vasi, but I am afraid they are more than that."

"Anong ibig mong sabihin?"

"I heard that these Endorian witches are harnessing Karan from the wickedness of the world. From hatred, from greed, from envy and from all the unspeakable evil of humans. Raphael, I think we have no match for that. I hate to admit it, but the world we are living in right now is brimming with vileness. We may have an upper hand if we will use the same kind of power against them."

"I know what you are thinking, old man. Balak mo ba makipag sabwatan sa mga Shadow Spirit? Naniniwala ka din ba sa sinasabi ni Amadeus tulad ni Jade?"

"I am just open for other options. Alam mo na gagawin ko ang lahat para iligtas si Jade at ang anak niyo."

Hindi naman ako nagdududa sa sinasabi ni Eleazar, pero tila hindi ko maisip na ang mga Shadow Spirits na kalaban namin noon ang hihingan namin ng tulong ngayon.

"Sabi ni Jade, nakahinto ang ship ni Amadeus sa isang uninhabited island na maraming yelo. I guess they are not in the Arctic Circle. You need to ask the captain to maneuver to Antarctica," sabi ko kay Eleazar pagkatapos ng mahabang katahimikan.

"Gusto mo ba talagang gawin ito? The Endorian Witches may be able to track Jade because of us. Alam mo na nasundan tayo ni Asharah kahit maingat tayo magtago sa kanya."

"Eleazar, Jade needs me. Hindi ko hahayaan na si Amadeus ang kasama niya habang pinagbubuntis niya ang anak ko."

"Jade is not a fool, son. She is the Fourth Protector and she is carrying the next Vessel of the Immortal Blood. Kung alam niya na nasa panganib siya, hindi siya magtitiwala kay Amadeus. She is staying with that Shadow Spirit because she felt at ease with him."

"Just ask the captain to go south. I need to find her. I need to be with her."

"Stubborn as always," sagot ni Eleazar bago ko tuluyan na iwan sa ship deck.
