Yesterday - The Beatles

Chibs POV

-----

I hated leaving Mina. I hated leaving the house. Every time I did, something awful happened. Every time without fail. I couldn't let Mina get hurt. I couldn't let anyone touch my love.

After our day together, I had to go. Since school was close to ending, there were half-days and some days where she didn't have to go in so Mina was home more. Home alone more. I asked her to go to Gemma's or TM when she was done. I didn't want her alone.

She wasn't too happy about that. But, she understood my worry. She understood why I asked her to do that. As unreasonable as Mina could be sometimes, whenever I was nervous about something or worried about her, she never argued. She always knew I was trying to protect her.

As I got dressed, she sat at the foot of the bed next to me. "What?" I asked, buttoning down my shirt, turning slightly to look at her.

"Nothing," she sighed.

I turned completely around, leaning down in front of her. "I don't believe you," I whispered.

Mina laughed, her giggling cackle, and said, "I just wish you didn't have to go."

Moving forward, I kissed her. "Aye, I know. I don't wanna go either."

"Then, stay," she whined.

"I can't." I kissed her again. "I'll make it up to ya. I promise."

She smiled, keeping her eyes closed for a moment and biting her lower lip. "Okay."

Mina pushed herself up onto her knees and kissed me, wrapping her arms around my neck. I slid my hand down her back, pulling her a little closer. After a few minutes, I broke the kiss and leaned back.

"I gotta go," I groaned, giving her a quick kiss. "Love ya."

Sitting back down on her legs, she sighed, "Love you too. Be careful, baby."

"Always," I said, kissing her forehead.

I walked out to my bike and sat down, peering down the street. I saw Charlie's car pull over down the block. Wondering what she was doing, I rode over and stopped next to her.

"Good morning, VP," she sighed, annoyed by my presence.

I asked, "What're ya doin' here?"

"Checking on Mina. Making sure she's alive."

"She's fine," I laughed.

Charlie said, "I called her yesterday. She declined it and said she couldn't talk. And I responded but she never wrote back."

I chuckled again and lowered my sunglasses to the tip of my nose. "Ya really think I did somethin' to her?"

She opened her door, tapping me bike and slid out. "I don't know. That's why I'm checking."

"Well, when ya see her, can ya tell her that I'll call her when I get there?"

I drove off down the street, watching Charlie walk into the house. Something about her rubbed me the wrong way. Something wasn't right about her but I didn't know what. She stayed with us for two weeks and the only thing I learned was she dumbed herself down around Mina. Whenever she talked to Mina, she acted like she was oblivious to the world. When she talked to me, she was smart. Really smart. Dangerously smart. The type of smart that knew what you were thinking based on a face you made behind closed doors.

After I met up with the guys at Red Woody, me, Jax, Tig, and Happy went to talk to this guy Otis. He was one of Tully's guys and we wanted to meet with him before we started working with them and the Mayans.
