Blurry - Puddle of Mud

-----

To make room for the police and fire departments, the club had to move all of the cars in the Teller-Morrow lot either onto the street or in the garage. The cars that were finished were brought back to their owners.

Chibs got in the truck after hooking up Mina's car to the back of it. He wanted to be the one to drop it off after everything that happened the night before. He was nervous, unbelievably nervous, and he wasn't sure why. He chain-smoked three cigarettes in ten minutes and felt even worse.

When he pulled up to the house, he saw her father's car in the driveway. He swore to himself as he got out of the truck walking up to the front door. Using his left hand to knock on the door, he staggered his weight from one leg to the other.

Her father opened the door. "What do you want?"

"Mina's car is done. Just droppin' it off. She here?"

"No," he crossed his arms, "she's at school, er, work. You can just leave it out front."

"She's gotta sign some paperwork for the office," he sighed.

Her father scoffed. "I'll sign for it."

Chibs laughed, "Your name's not on the registration." He crossed his arms, mimicking his stance. "Where's she work?"

He shook his head. "You can come back later today."

Chibs smiled. "I can't, actually. We gotta clear out the lot and I need to bring the truck back, so..." he trailed off. He tapped his forehead. "Ya said school? Which school does she work at?" Her father didn't say anything. He continued to stare Chibs down. "I'm guessin' high school?" Chibs could tell from his reaction that he was right. "Thanks for the help."

He laughed as he walked back to the truck. Driving over to the high school, he felt less nervous than he did earlier.

He put the truck in park and got out. Leaning up against it, he pulled his phone out dialing her number. "Come out to the parking lot," he chuckled.

"Are you at the school?"

"You'll find out if ya come outside."

Mina laughed and started walking to exit the building. She saw him against the truck. Then, she saw another woman walk over to him. What was she doing?

"Sir," she said. "Can I help you with something?"

"Oh, I'm just waitin' for someone."

She smiled. "Well, I could keep you company if you wanted."

He chuckled, "Uh, I'm okay. I'm sure you've got better things to do."

"Nope," she sighed, shaking her head. "So, you're in the Sons?"

"Aye."

She bit her lower lip and asked, "Where's your bike?"

Chibs shook his head, "I'm workin' today."

"Oh, so are you waiting to drop off this guy's car?"

"Aye." He pulled out his pack of cigarettes.

She laughed, "Oh, you can't smoke on school property."

"Seriously?" She nodded. "Sh*te."

Mina watched from the window as the two of them talked by the Teller-Morrow truck. She was starting to get a little angry. She didn't know why though. They weren't a couple or anything. They weren't even friends, really. We're not even friends, she thought as she continued to look out the window. Chibs looked down at his watch.
