Chapter 20: Once

Mina walked into school, keeping her head down. She was really worried about Chibs. She didn't know what was happening but she knew it was dangerous and that he was even nervous about it. When she stepped into her office, Jessica smiled up at her, but she kept walking to her desk.

"What's wrong, babe?" Jessica asked, walking over to her. "Something happen?"

Mina shook her head and sat down, "I'm just worried. Some sh*t's going down with the club and I don't think it's going to end well."

Jessica sat down on Mina's desk. "What's happening?"

She shrugged. "Chibs didn't tell me. Just that I might hear about it and there are too many moving parts and Jax is gonna get them killed." She put her face in her hands. "What did I get myself into?"

"It's alright. He's gonna be fine." Jessica stood up and hugged Mina. "Tell me about your surprise date last night."

Mina smiled and laughed. "It was..." She bit her lip before continuing, "fun."

"Fun?" Jessica scoffed. "It was more than fun." She noticed Mina's new necklace and pointed to it. "Did he...?" Mina nodded and played with the star necklace. "My God, woman, if I didn't know any better, I'd think you're in love."

She groaned, "Don't say that. You'll jinx it."

"Are you?" 

Mina shrugged, looking down at the necklace. "I think so? I don't know, I feel...complete. Like, I didn't realize I was missing him until I think about it, you know?"

Jessica smiled, hugging her again. "My baby girl's all grown up!" Mina pushed her away. "Tell me about this date!"

She laughed, then sighed, thinking about their perfect night. "We had dinner and then we went to a bar. He taught me how to play pool." Jessica made a face. "Shut up," Mina chuckled. "He got in a fight, we went-"

"He got in a fight?"

"Yeah," she laughed. "These guys came over and asked me if he was bothering me and he told them that I was with him, and they were like 'well, maybe she wants to hang out with people her age' and he beat them up. Stabbed one of them."

Jessica laughed, "What the f*ck?"

Mina chuckled, "Yeah. From there, he rented bikes and we rode to the boardwalk and watched the sunset. Then, went skinny dipping. Had sex. He gave me the necklace-"

"Woah, Woah, Woah, tap the brakes. You had sex in the ocean while you were skinny dipping?" Mina nodded. "Jesus, I need to find a man like him."

She laughed, "After that, he gave me this, went home, had sex again, and fell asleep."

She shook her head. "That's a date right there." Jessica stood up and walked back to her desk to get ready for her class. "I give up."

Chibs met Jax at the old train yard. They were waiting for the DA to show up so Jax could make a deal. He wasn't ratting on the club, but he was trying to make the day go much easier for them. So they needed help from the law.

He took off his helmet and walked over to Jax. "What the hell happened to you?" Jax asked, looking at the scratches on his neck.

"Rough night," he chuckled.

Jax saw the purple welts on the other side of his neck. He smiled, "I don't think it was that rough. You probably enjoyed it."

He ignored Jax and watched the car pull in. "They're here."
