Wicked Garden - Stone Temple Pilots

-----

The sun was above the mountains casting a morning light onto them, giving them an orange glow. Chibs held the door open for her. She smiled, looking up at him as she walked into the diner.

"How many in your party?" the waitress asked.

"Two," he answered. They followed her over to a booth and Mina slid on one side. Instead of sitting across from her, Chibs sat down on the same side of the booth.

He wrapped one arm around her and opened the menu with his other hand. "What're you doing?" she chuckled.

"Lookin' at the menu," he sighed, not looking at her. "What're ya gonna get?"

Mina laughed at him for ignoring her question. "I don't know," she answered looking at her menu.

The waitress came over and asked what they wanted to drink. They both ordered coffee. Mina added four packets of sweetener to hers and Chibs took his black.

"What's happenin' at school today?" he asked, taking a sip of the coffee.

She shrugged, "We're running the track and it's so boring. Like I just stand there and watched them run in circles."

He laughed, "You can do it."

Mina rolled her eyes. "What d'you have going on today?"

"We're opening up TM finally. So, probably do sh*te there and then handle some stuff for the club," he sighed.

"Like what?"

Shaking his head, he replied, "I can't tell ya that."

The waitress came back and asked Mina what she wanted. "Can I have oatmeal with fruit?"

"Of course," she smiled, "And for you, sir?"

Chibs looked at Mina. "That's all ya want?" She chuckled and nodded. He looked back at the waitress, "Can I have chocolate chip pancakes?"

"Short stack or meal?"

"Meal," he scoffed. Before she could ask, he said, "Bacon, please."

She laughed, "Anything else?"

"Hashbrowns and toast."

The waitress smiled, "It'll be out in a few minutes."

Mina laughed, "That's all sugar and fat."

"So?"

"That's not healthy," she chuckled.

He shook his head and leaned over, putting his forehead on hers. "I don't give a f*ck."

She kissed him and mumbled, "Just don't go getting chubby on me, Chibby." He smiled and laughed.

A few minutes later, the waitress came back with Mina's bowl of oatmeal and two plates for Chibs. He chuckled, wringing his hands together. "I'm so excited."

"You're an a*shole," she chuckled, reaching over for a piece of bacon.

Chibs swatted her hand away. "Get the f*ck outta here. It's all fat; it's not healthy for ya." She bit her lip, trying to hold in her laughter. "If ya wanted it, ya shoulda ordered it," he whispered in her ear.

They finished their breakfast and walked over to the front to pay. Mina was looking at the cookies next to the cash register. "$15.67," the waitress said.

"Lemme get one of those too," he said, pointing to the cookies.

"$17.97," she said, after adjusting the numbers and sliding the cookie across the counter. He handed her a twenty-dollar bill and they walked out.
