I Feel Fine - The Beatles

Mina POV

-----

Charlie wouldn't leave me alone. She walked in a few minutes after Chibs left and she refused to leave. She said she was worried about me for some reason, but she wouldn't say. When Chibs called and said he was on his way back, I thought he was my saving grace and she would finally leave. But, she stayed.

I heard Chibs' bike rumble down the street and I peered out the window. Then, I saw a police car pull in behind him. I stood up and headed for the door. "The f*ck did he do?" I muttered as I walked.

"What's wrong?" Charlie asked.

As I walked out, I heard Chibs and Althea having a heated conversation. She said, "Some Aryan psycho tried to kill one of my sheriffs."

Chibs nodded, "Right."

"You didn't want to give us a head's up?" she asked.

"We told Unser. He took care of it." I started walking closer and I heard Chibs say, "Ya need to go." Althea didn't do anything and he sighed, "Okay," and started walking towards me.

She turned, "That's it? Okay? You know, you can't just f*ck me and then end it all."

He spun around and took a step towards her. "That's exactly what I can do." He took another step. "Get it through your head. I'm with her," he said pointing back at me. She didn't know I was there. "You're a cop and I'm a criminal. I'm never gonna tell ya about my business and you sure as sh*t ain't gonna tell me yours. So, no. We won't be taking strolls down Main Street hand in hand, doing things couples do, because that will never be us."

Chibs started walking towards me when she grabbed his arm and spun him around. She shoved him backward making him stumble. I couldn't watch anymore and walked forward, shoving her back. She came back and slapped me across the face.

I tried to dive at her but Chibs picked me up and put me on the other side of him. She swung at him, hitting his cheek. I went toward her but Charlie grabbed my arm. She took a step in front of me and went to talk to Althea. I didn't know what she said, but whatever she told her made Althea leave.

Chibs walked over to me and held my face, but it hurt from Althea hitting me. "Are ya okay?" he asked.

"Yeah, are you?" He nodded and looked back at the two of them talking. "What're they saying?"

"I have no idea," he sighed. When Althea walked back to her car, Chibs chuckled, "That's surprising."

When Charlie walked back, I asked, "What'd you say?"

She laughed, "If she hits a pregnant girl again, the real cops will be here to take her away."

"You told her I was pregnant?"

Charlie sighed, "What else was I supposed to do?"

"She has a point love," Chibs said, looking at Althea as she stared back at him. "C'mon," he sighed, wrapping his arm around my shoulders, pulling me inside. When we walked inside, Chibs some ice and knelt in front of me, holding it on my face. "Are ya sure you're okay?"

I put my hand on top of his. "Yeah, I'm fine, baby," I smiled, leaning forward to kiss him. Charlie was pacing back and forth behind him. I looked up at her and Chibs could see the annoyance in my face.

"Charlie, I think ya should get goin'," Chibs said, standing up.

She looked from him to me. "Really?" she scoffed.

I sighed, "Come on, Charlie. You've been here all day. I'm fine."

"You're not fine, Mina!" she snapped. "It's been five days and I've barely heard from you! I'm worried about you!"
