No Shelter - Rage Against the Machine

-----

Tig and Ratboy drove the van with Jax and Chibs following behind on their bikes. Chibs just wanted to be done. He forgot the hustle and bustle of the club and how exhausting it was.

They started walking up to the house, keeping Ratboy out front to watch for neighbors. Tig went around the back and Jax and Chibs went to the front door. Chibs looked in the window and knocked on the glass to see if anyone was there.

He saw Tig push the back door open and walk-in. Using his elbow, he broke the glass to get to the doorknob and open the door. He and Jax walked in, hearing nothing other than the glass under their feet and Tig rounding the corner.

Then, they heard footsteps from the back room. Tig lifted his gun, nodding towards Jax. They walked over toward the room quietly. Tig looked at Jax and he nodded to go in. Before he could reach for the doorknob, someone shot him through the door, sending Tig to the ground. He groaned as Chibs aimed his gun toward the door, while Jax kicked the door in.

Chibs knelt next to him, looking over the wound. "Oh, sh*t, Tig, Tiggy, Tig," he muttered, grabbing a pillow, putting pressure on the wound.

"Go, I'm okay," Tig groaned.

"I'm not leavin' ya, brother."

They heard a crash outside and both jumped. "Go help Jax. I'll still be bleeding when you get back."

Chibs stood and ran outside. Jax and Ratboy had their guns drawn, pointing into the lake. A guy was getting out of the car Ratboy crashed into. He was holding a shotgun as he climbed out.

"Put down the gun!" Jax yelled.

"Leave us alone!" he screamed back.

Jax asked, "Wait, what do you mean, 'us'? Who's with you?"

He started trying to get back into the car. "Mama! She's in the backseat!"

Jax kicked off his shoes and jumped into the water to help get the guy's mother out. She was the one they needed for August. Chibs and Ratboy watched as Jax went under the water. He was under for a little too long.

"Jackie," Chibs sighed. "Here." He handed Ratboy his gun and holster. "Sh*t." He jumped in the water after Jax. "Jackie!" he called as he broke to the surface.

As soon as he got there, Jax, the guy, and his mother came to the surface of the water. Ratboy climbed down the bank a little to help pull them up. Jax carried the mother through the water.

"Get Mama, get Mama," Chibs told Ratboy who was going to help Jax out first. The guy asked her if she was okay and she said she was cold. Chibs looked at her arm and said, "Track marks are fresh."

"Sometimes her demons get the best of her," the guy said.

Jax asked, "You Haddem's son?"

"Stepson," he corrected. "That freak is not my father. He's the reason this is all happening."

"What's happening?" Jax asked.

The stepson said, "They probably killed him. Now, they're gonna hurt my mother. Who sent you guys looking for us?" he asked, looking back at Jax and Chibs. "Was it August Marks?"

"Get them inside," Jax said, tapping Chibs' shoulder.

Chibs, Ratboy, and the stepson helped her up. Chibs held back, waiting for Jax to climb out of the water. "Jax, come on," he sighed, reaching for him. "Good?" he asked, pulling him up onto land. They stood for a second. "Remember when our biggest problem was which Mayan to kill?"
