The Perfect Drug - Nine Inch Nails

-----

"Is this guy bothering you?" he asked again.

Chibs sighed, "Why don't ya mind your own f*cking business?"

The shorter, stronger looking guy stepped forward. "What was that, old man?"

"Who ya callin' old man, ars*hole?"

"Listen, you Irish prick," the tall one said, "leave the girl alone."

Chibs walked over to him. They didn't realize how tall he was until he completely stood up. "First of all, learn some geography. I'm Scottish, for f*cks' sake. Second of all, she's with me."

The short kid took a step back from him and said, "Well, maybe she wants to come hang out with people her own age."

Mina sat on the pool table, trying not to laugh. They didn't know Chibs, what he was capable of. Chibs nodded and looked back at her. "What d'ya say, darlin'? Wanna go hang out with people your own age?"

"No," she shook her head, "I'm good."

Chibs chuckled and winked at her. He turned back to them fast, punching the tall one in the face and grabbing the other one by the throat. His nose was inches from the kid's face. "Now, you're gonna listen to me. You're gonna apologize to her and be glad that I didn't beat the sh*te out of ya, got that?"

The tall guy stood up off the floor. He grabbed the pool stick off the table. "Chibs!" Mina yelled. He wound up the stick, hitting Chibs across the back of his head with the heavy end. He fell to the ground and they started kicking him. "Stop!" Mina yelled, but they kept going. Then, she saw the silver blade Chibs had pulled out.

He pulled out his knife and stabbed one of them, twisting it in his leg. He screamed in pain and fell to the ground. Chibs stood up and grabbed the other one by the collar of his shirt and started punching him over and over again. The rings on his fingers cut open the kid's face.

Mina had never seen this side of him. She didn't know if she was terrified or turned on. When he stopped wailing on him, and the kid fell to the ground, Chibs pulled his knife out of the other guy's leg and grabbed Mina's hand.

"Let's get the f*ck outta here," he laughed.

They ran out to the car and got in. Mina laughed as he pulled out of the parking lot as fast as he could.

Chibs kept driving and she touched the back of his head where he got hit. He winced at her touch. "Sh*t, sorry. Are you okay? Do you need anything?"

"No, I'm alright, love." He took her hand and kissed it.

She slid to the edge of her seat and put her head on his shoulder. "Thanks for that."

"For what?" he asked.

"Defending my honor," she chuckled, rubbing the rings on his fingers.

He laughed, " 'Course, my love. No one messes with my girl."

They kept driving until they reached a small parking lot. The sun was just beginning to set as they got out of the car. Mina looked around, trying to figure out what they were doing. When she couldn't figure it out, she asked, "What're we doing here?"

"You'll find out." He sat her down on a bench and walked around the corner. She tried to see what he was doing, but once he turned, she couldn't see him any longer. A few minutes later, he came back pushing two bicycles. She laughed and got off the bench.

"Are you serious?"

He smiled, "Rented them for two hours."

She chuckled, and then her face dropped. "Chibs," she whispered. He leaned down closer to hear her. "I don't know if I can ride this," she said with a small chuckle, "I'm wearing a thong."
