Never There - Cake
Mina POV
-----
Scoops was only ten minutes away from my house. It had been an hour since he texted me and said he was on his way. I called Jax.
"Yeah?" he asked.
I asked in a panic, "Jax, have you seen Chibs? Is he still at Scoops?"
"Nah, he left about an hour ago. Is he not back yet?"
"No," I sighed. "He told me he left but he's not here." I looked out the window for the fortieth time. "Jax, where is he?"
Jax sighed, "He's on his way. He probably stopped somewhere, Mina."
"Yeah. Okay, yeah, you're right." I sat down on the couch. "Thanks, Jax."
"No worries. Good night."
Jax was right. I knew he was. Chibs was on his way. He probably stopped at the store or something. As I sat and waited for him, I started to fall asleep. What felt like twenty minutes was really six hours.
I woke up and the sun had risen, pouring into my window. I ran into the bedroom; no Chibs. I went into the bathroom; no Chibs. He wasn't in the kitchen, he wasn't on the porch, his bike wasn't in the driveway.
Maybe he came home when I was asleep and then left before I woke up. No, I would've heard him. He would've said goodbye. I called him; no answer. After calling him six more times, I called Jax again.
"Is Chibs with you?" I asked, skipping the morning pleasantries.
"No, he's not with you?"
I started crying, "He didn't come home. Jax, where is he?"
"I don't know. I'll call Tig, see if he knows."
After I hung up with Jax, I went into my room and got dressed. "You better be off cheating on me somewhere and not dead in a f*cking ditch," I muttered as I pulled my shirt on. I called into work, told them I had a family emergency.
I walked out to my car, wary of people everywhere. The last thing Chibs said to me was to stay at the house. I assumed that rule still applied, but I would risk everything for him. I sat in the driver seat that was miles away from the steering wheel. I couldn't stay in that car; it smelled like him.
Deciding to walk, I went down the street with my keys in between my knuckles. Chibs would not be happy knowing I left the house and was walking in the wide open, but it would be worth it.
When I got to Scoops, Tig and Ratboy were sitting at the counter drinking coffee. "Mornin', doll," Tig smiled.
"Where the f*ck is Chibs?" I asked.
He chuckled, "I dunno. Left last night, said he was going back to your place. Did he not...?"
I shook my head and sat on the window, starting to cry. "I'm really worried about him."
"Hey," Tig said, getting off the stool. "I'll go look for him. Stay here with Rat and try to get ahold of him, alright?" I nodded. "We'll find him."
Jax walked in, "Oh, sh*t," he sighed, seeing me. "What're you doing here?"
"Chibs didn't go home last night, man," Tig told him.
"Yeah, I know," Jax said. "You hear anything about Bobby?"
Tig shook his head. "Nothing. West brought the..." he paused, looking at me, then back at Jax.
"She's fine."
