Big Bang Baby - Stone Temple Pilots

Mina POV

-----

By the time Chibs got home, I had had it with Charlie. She spent the whole day trying to convince me that I was making a mistake. I never expected that from her especially the way she talked to me.

"Mina, he's in a gang. Something could happen to him. He could get killed and then you're alone with a kid," she said as casually as anyone could. Looking up at her, I couldn't believe the words she was telling me. "Plus, did you think about the age difference? When this kid graduates high school, he's gonna be, what, almost seventy?"

"And I'm gonna be fifty," I shrugged.

She reached across the table and grabbed my hand. "Mina...you know what I mean." I pulled my hand away from her to rest my chin on my hands. "What?"

"What do you mean? What're you trying to say, Charlie?"

Tipping her head sideways, she sighed, "You know what I'm saying to you."

I asked, "Do I?" I honestly had no idea what she was trying to say to me. I knew she was trying to tell me that being with Chibs was wrong, but I wanted her to say exactly what she was thinking. When the front door opened, I had never been so excited. Walking over to him, I smiled, "Hey, baby. How'd it go?"

He leaned down to kiss me. "Good." Looking up, he chuckled, "So, Charlie's still here?"

Charlie scoffed and stood up. "Guess that's my queue. I'll talk to you later," she said, pointing at me.

"Okay," I sighed. She opened the door and then walked out backward, still staring at us. She closed the door as she walked out. "She's so f*cking weird," I laughed.

"She's your friend," he chuckled.

"So," I smiled, pulling him into a hug. "When do you want to go?"

He sighed, pulling me closer. "Whenever ya want, love."

He squeezed me tighter in the hug. I loved his hugs; they were so warm and comforting and safe. But that hug felt like he needed me more than I needed him. He gripped me tighter in his arms, cramming me into his chest.

"You okay?" I mumbled into his shirt. "You're kinda crushing me."

"Oh, sh*t," he chuckled. "Sorry." Releasing me from his embrace, he leaned down, lifting my chin to kiss him. He rested his forehead on mine as he looked down at me. "When d'ya wanna go?"

I smiled looking up at his beautiful brown eyes. "We can go now if you want. Then we can come back here...hang out."

He laughed, "Hang out?"

"Yeah," I giggled. "Dinner, movie."

Chibs wrapped his arm around my shoulders and said, "Okay, love." I grabbed my keys and sunglasses of the counter and then walked back over to him. "Ready?" he asked, kissing my forehead.

I nodded and walked toward the door. He closed it behind us, grabbing my hand, pulling me to the car. As we rode over to his apartment, the things Charlie was lecturing me about, finally hit me. I started thinking way too much about what she had said to me.

"You okay, darlin'?" Chibs asked, grabbing my hand. "Where'd ya go?"

I smiled, "No where. Just thinking."

He chuckled, "About what?"

"Nothing," I sighed, putting my head on his shoulder.

"So, what'd ya do with Charlie all day today?"
