The Becoming - Nine Inch Nails

-----

Seeing her father stand on the other side of the door gave her an uneasy feeling she never thought she'd have about him. She opened up the door a little wider for him to walk in. It felt like slow-motion as he walked over to the table and sat down.

Without him noticing, she took her engagement ring off and held it in her hand. She walked back to the bedroom to get dressed once she remembered she was only wearing one of Chib's shirts. Leaving it on the dresser, she walked back out and sat across from her father, finishing her coffee.

"How are you?" John Michael asked, looking down at her hands.

"Fine," she nodded. He bobbed his head, looking out the window. Mina set down her mug and looked up at her father. "What're you doing here, Dad?"

He sighed, "I just...I just wanted to see you. There's no malcontent, I just miss my daughter, is that alright?" Mina nodded quickly, realizing how her relationship with him had faltered since meeting Chibs. "How have you been? Anything...new?" he asked, looking down at the table.

"Good, it's good. We're actually looking for a house together," she said, pointing at the boxes.

"Wow, kinda soon." Mina shrugged, not knowing how to tell him about how they were getting married and expecting a baby. "Filip came by the house the other day."

Mina shook her head. "What? Why?"

"He, uh, told me a few things."

"Sh*t, what did he tell you?" she groaned.

John Michael asked, "What do you think?"

She sighed, "Dad, don't do that. What did he tell you?"

He chuckled, shaking his head. "He told me a lot. You guys are getting married." Mina groaned, shaking her head. She asked Chibs not to tell her dad if he saw him. "And you're...pregnant."

Mina closed her eyes, feeling those words pierce her skin. She wanted to tell him that so it wouldn't cause any issues. "Sh*t," she whispered.

"Congratulations, my Mina," he smiled. "I'm really, really happy for you. I really am." Mina looked up at him, tears welling in her eyes. "You know, after your accident and Stefan, your mother and I had talked about leaving Charming. And then...when she died...I couldn't leave her here. Ever since then, I didn't want anything to happen to you. I didn't want you near the Sons of Anarchy. But, I'm glad we stayed. You found your happiness here. You found it in something I never wanted you near. But your happiness is more important than my feelings on it. I'm sorry for my behavior toward him and towards you. You're my daughter, and I'm always going to love you, my Mina." She started crying hearing her father's words. He stood up and said, "Come here," pulling her up into a hug.

Mina lamented in her father's arms. She missed him a lot. They had never gone this long without speaking. For almost ten years, they were all they had and then Chibs came and threw off the balance of their relationship.

After a few minutes, he pulled out of the hug and chuckled, "So, how's the baby?"

Mina laughed, "Good! Almost nine weeks!" She smiled looking down at her stomach.

"Did you guys find out the gender?"

"No, we're gonna wait until it's born." She pointed to the fridge. "Ultrasound's over there." He turned at looked at the black and white picture. He smiled looking from it to Mina. "I'm getting another one next week. Can't wait to see what the cherry looks like."
