Whatever Happens - Michael Jackson

Chibs POV

-----

By the time I got back to Mina's house, it was starting to get dark. When I walked in, the door stopped by the locked chain.

"Hey, Mina," I called.

"Sh*t, sorry," she sighed, pushing the door closed to unlock it. She opened it and walked back into the other room. Then, she stopped and turned. "You can't just leave like that, Chibs."

I chuckled, "Why not?" I sat down at the kitchen table and took a cigarette from the pack.

Mina sat down next to me. "Chibs, I'm just worried." She reached over and touched my forearm.

Looking down at her hand, I pulled my arm away from her. "I'm fine." I lit my cigarette and tossed the lighter down on the table.

"You got shot twice and were almost beaten to death. Baby, you're not fine."

"Do ya wanna have sex?" I asked her.

She stuttered, "Wh-what? No, I want to talk to you."

I took a drag, "Well, after I finish my cigarette, I'm going to bed."

"Chibs," she sighed.

I crushed out my cigarette as I stood up. I kissed her forehead and said, "G'night, darlin'."

I walked into the bedroom and changed into a pair of sweatpants. I didn't realize how much I missed a pair of grey sweats. I laid down in bed, letting it absorb me. At first, it hurt my back until I got used to it. Rolling onto my side, I closed my eyes and saw Lou and Remington walking toward me.

Shifting onto my back, I stared up at the ceiling. I started to fall asleep, seeing myself standing over Lou's naked body on the floor, blood surrounding her. I raised a gun and pulled the trigger.

I sat up and rubbed my eyes. I knew I didn't shoot her, but it felt so real. I was sweating and shaking and cold. Getting out of bed, I tiptoed into the bathroom. The lights and TV were still on. Mina must've fallen asleep, I thought.

"What're you doing?" she asked.

I looked into the living room. "You're still awake?"

"Yeah, I'm still awake. What're you doing? Thought you were going to bed?"

I nodded, "Couldn't sleep."

She looked at the clock then back to me. "You went in there twenty minutes ago," she sighed.

"Twenty minutes," I whispered.

Mina stood up and walked over to me. Putting her hands on my cheeks, she sighed, "You're sweating! Is everything okay?"

I took her hands off my face and said, "Aye, I'm fine." I swallowed my spit and she looked up at me. "What?"

"Something's wrong, baby. Talk to me."

"I'm fine. I'm gonna go try to sleep," I sighed, kissing her forehead again.

Laying back down, I groaned; everything still hurt. I closed my eyes and saw Bobby, beaten, bloody, missing an eye and fingers. He was sitting in a chair, his hands tied, his head hanging down. Someone raised a gun to his head and pulled the trigger.

I jumped up and started breathing heavily. After I calmed down, I walked out to the living room assuming Mina fell asleep out there. She wasn't next to me. I stepped quietly, thinking she was asleep. But she was sitting up, watching TV.
