Fell on Black Days - Soundgarden

----

Chibs woke up sitting upright on the couch. His neck was killing him from being tipped back all night. Looking down, he saw Mina asleep. She was laying down with her head on his thigh. The cat was curled next to his other leg. He smiled at the two of them fast asleep.

His phone buzzed in his pocket under Mina's head. "Sh*te," he whispered. Slowly, ever so slowly, he was able to retrieve his phone. It was a message from Tig: Chapel in an hour. "Dammit," he muttered.

Chibs sighed and look down at the sleeping woman. He didn't want to go and leave her again. He brushed a piece of hair off of her face and leaned down to kiss her temple. Holding her head up, he gently placed her head on a pillow so he could get up. Chibs grabbed a piece of paper and wrote: Sorry, love. Had to go. Be back later.

Taking one last look at her, hoping he didn't wake her, he slid his cut over his shoulders before turning and walking out. He sat on his bike, putting his helmet on his head, staring up at the house. The only place he truly wanted to be. Especially after the events that unfolded the night prior, he didn't want to go.

But, he still started up his Dyna and backpedaled out of the driveway, looking up at the house.

Mina woke up about twenty minutes after he left. Looking up, she expected him to still be sitting there. But, instead, her head was on a pillow and he wasn't there. She wondered if he was in the bathroom or the kitchen, but he wasn't. She found the note of the table and sighed, disappointed he left.

Turning on the coffee pot, she leaned against the counter on the same spot she stood with night before. Her phone started ringing. Looking down to see who it was, she smiled reading the name.

"Yes?" she asked.

"You alright, darlin'?" Chibs asked.

She smiled, "Of course! Why wouldn't I be?"

"Thought ya'd be mad since I had to go."

"Not at all," she chuckled. "You're coming back later, right?"

He laughed, "Only if you want me to."

"Of course I do!" She realized she said that a little too excited when he laughed.

"I don't know what time I'll be done here. I'll let ya know when I leave."

Mina smiled, biting her lip a little, trying to contain her excitement. "Okay."

"Alright, talk to ya later, darlin'," Chibs sighed.

"Okay, bye." After hanging up, Mina texted Jessica to see if she could come over. She needed her annoying best friend's advice.

The club sat in the ice cream shop,  waiting for Jax to there. Chuck was cleaning the window while they waited. Jax walked in and gave Happy a hug. He had just gotten back from dealing with the Irish.

"Welcome back, my brother," Jax said.

Happy chuckled, "Hey, boss."

"How'd the Irish sales pitch go?"

"Good, man," Happy nodded, "Connected with most of our buyers. They still wanna talk with Clay but they seems open to change. They get why we're stepping away." Jax and Happy sat down at the counter.

"Good," Jax smiled. That was the best news he had heard all week.

Bobby started speaking, so Jax turned towards him. "Couldn't get a sit-down with the Italians. I don't think the personnel change is gonna land too well with them." Jax sighed hearing that news from Bobby.
