A week had passed since their meet-up with Tommy, and as Dahlia turned the television in her room off, she laid back on her bed, sighing in boredom.Kat was off working on a group project and Jordan had a night workout with the team.
After reorganizing her closet for the third time that night, Dahlia gathered her sketchbook and a few pencils and put them in a messenger bag.
Hoping that getting out of her room and a change of scenery would be enough to cure her boredom, Dahlia made her way towards the study rooms on her floor, stopping in front of one with a small smile on her face.
Connor had been working on a piece for his music theory class and hadn't noticed when Dahlia entered the study room.
She stood in front of him, watching as he continued tickling the piano keys. With his headphones plugged in, only Connor could hear the music, but Dahlia could tell by the look on his face that whatever he was working on didn't sound the way he intended.
As he yanked his headphones off, he finally looked up, jumping back a little, seeing Dahlia standing over him.
"Geez!"
"Ooh, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to scare you."
Connor's breathing began to even out as Dahlia stood her ground in front of his table, nervously tugging at the sleeve on her sweatshirt.
"It's okay, Dahlia."
Dahlia nodded, awkwardly looking around the room until her eyes landed back on Connor's keyboard.
"Not playing in your room?"
"Yeah... not tonight. Mitch's girlfriend came over, sooo..."
Connor let out an awkward chuckle and scratched the back of his hand, causing Dahlia to nod knowingly.
"Soooo you decided to give them some privacy. Nice."
After another few moments of uncomfortable dead air, Dahlia turned to leave the study room.
"Lia, wait! Can we talk for a sec?"
Dahlia turned back to Connor, and after a moment of hesitation, nodded her head and stood across from him at the table, gently gripping the back of the chair she was standing behind.
"What's up?"
"Look... I just wanted to apologize-- for how I acted after Spring Break. I shouldn't have come at you the way I did. I think I lashed out because my feelings got hurt."
"I didn't mean to hurt you, Conn-"
His hand raised in the air stopped Dahlia.
"I know you didn't, and it's okay. I just don't wanna see you get hurt."
"Jordan's not gonna hurt me."
Connor nodded before standing from his seat. He rounded the table, heading for Dahlia with his arms stretched out wide.
"Friends?"
Dahlia smiled and nodded, hooking her arms under Connor's as her cheek landed on his chest.
"Friends."
