We had just finished an interview with Ms. Kennard, the principal of the school Mommy said I was going to be going to.
Ms. Kenard was really nice, and even let me play with some chalk while she finished talking to Mommy and Daddy.
Some kids had just tan out onto the playground and soon, there was a shadow behind me, blocking the sun.
I turned around to see Tristan looking down at me, a surprised look on his face. He began smiling, but I turned away from him, remembering how mean he was at our playdate.
I continued working on my turtle, making the spots on his shell purple when Tristan sat next to me and picked up a piece of yellow chalk.
He began drawing a big circle, filling it with yellow before picking up a piece of orange chalk.
"I'm sorry for being mean before."
I looked over at him as he sighed, finishing up the sun he was working on before setting the orange chalk back in the bucket.
"Why did you yell at Nate?"
Tristan shrugged and kept his eyes on the ground, not looking at me.
"Your ankle-- he was--he hurt you."
"It was an accident."
Tristan's blue eyes finally found mine and I could tell he felt really bad for what happened.
"I'm sorry."
I nodded before Tristan and I continued drawing together. He looked over at the big pink flower I'd just finished.
"I like your flower, it's pretty."
"Thanks! Daddy calls me his Sunflower."
Tristan looked at me and smiled, grabbing the pink chalk that was next to my hand. When he did, his fingers brushed against mine and it felt tingly.
"I think I like Bunny better."
