"No, Mom, that was pretty much it... and that was a week ago... before she left. I mean, she thanked me--well you-- for the necklace. Thanks for covering, by the way."

"Not a problem, Kiddo. She did sort of catch me off guard, at first, but I don't think she suspected anything."

Jordan sighed into the phone, knowing his parents were both still disappointed about what happened with Dahlia.

Hell, at this point, Jordan was still disgusted with himself.

He knew Dahlia was his endgame, and he wasn't going to let one moment of stupidity on his part ruin their life together.

"Well, that was the last we talked, and her roommate told me what time her flight was getting in, so..."

"So, go get that girl from the airport and apologize for being such a dumb shit!"

"No promises."

After flying down the freeway at speeds he'd never admit to going, Jordan finally arrived at the airport. He quickly parked and was approaching her terminal when something up ahead stunned him, freezing him in his tracks for just a moment, before he hid behind a nearby pillar.

Leaning back against the large pillar, Jordan felt like a hopeless creep, watching his ex-girlfriend being led out of the airport. His heart wrenched as he watched Connor, who was wheeling her luggage, slip his free hand into hers with a smile on his face.
