New Year's Eve wasn't celebrated in the Prescott house that year, since Jordan was playing in the Sugar Bowl the next day.

Besides the National College Football Championship game itself, each bowl was a prestigious championship game that only a few select teams played in each year.

As a nervous Dahlia waddled into the living room where everyone was gathered around the large projector, Charlotte rushed over to grab the fruit platter from her daughter.

"Now, Lia, honey... how many more times am I gonna have to tell your highly pregnant behind to sit down? Jordan would kill me if he saw you right now."

Dahlia huffed as Kat and Leo helped her onto the reclining chair. They propped her legs on the ottoman and soon, Charlotte was handing her a bowl of pineapple chunks, receiving a large grin from Dahlia.

"How's my granddaughter?"

Dahlia smiled as Charlotte gently rubbed her belly, then shifted in her seat when she heard a whistle from the projector, indicating the game was soon starting.

"Excited for her daddy to win, so he can come home already. She's missed him these past two days..."

Dahlia cooed and began rubbing her stomach, watching on the projector as her husband began throwing a couple of practice throws to the second-string quarterback.

A few hours and a Trojans victory later, everyone had gone home except for Jordan's mom, who had just finished cleaning the living room, and was now tidying up the kitchen. A sound behind her surprised her, and she turned to see her son, entering the kitchen with a bright smile on his face.

"Mom, you really didn't have to do this. I mean—"

"It's no problem, champ. I'm so proud of you."

Charlotte set the cup she was holding in the dishwasher before turning to her son, wrapping him in a warm embrace.

"Where's Doll?"

"She woke from a nap a little while ago and said she wanted to work in the nursery."

Jordan kissed his mom's forehead before exiting the kitchen, heading toward the hallway that led to his room.

As he stood in front of the door of the nursery, he could hear the faint sounds of a song being sung. When he peeked inside, he could see Dahlia setting a few pictures of her and Jordan on a shelf on the opposite wall of the crib.
