"I'm pregnant."

The ache Jordan felt a moment ago was instantly replaced by something else. It was a tingling sensation that made him feel like his face was on fire and his entire body was floating high above the ground.

"Really?!"

It was the best feeling Jordan had experienced in a long time when Dahlia started nodding, but that feeling was short-lived when he saw that her tears hadn't stopped-- she was still crying.

"Baby...Doll, what the matter? What's wrong?"

Jordan reached over to hold Dahlia's hands but she pulled back shaking her head.

"This wasn't supposed to happen, Jordan. We're not-- we're not ready."

"Doll, I'm ready. Hell, I've been ready since that scare in high school-- as crazy as that sounds."

Dahlia thought back to the summer before her senior year in high school, when Jordan came out for a visit and the nerve-wracking weeks that followed.

"Jordan, that wasn--"

"Look, Babe, I want you to have all of my babies and now we're really having one. How is this not amazing?"

Dahlia looked at Jordan incredulously, shaking her head as she blinked her eyes rapidly.

"Jordan, we're college students-- in our third year-- how is anything about having a baby right now a good idea?!"

"What?"

Jordan watched as Dahlia hung her, sighing as she rubbed her forehead.

"See this is why I didn't even wanna tell you..."

"What? You weren't-- you weren't gonna tell me?"

Jordan thought about it then smirked, chuckling a bit at the thought.

"You weren't going to tell me? Doll, baby... how would that have even worked?"

Jordan could clearly see the guilt etched on Dahlia's face when she finally looked up at him. He shook his head as realization washed over him.

"You weren't even gonna tell me, were you? You were just...gonna get rid of it and never say a word, right?"

Dahlia looked away with shame painted on her face, not able to face Jordan or the look of contempt on his face

"It's not the right time, Jordan."

The car was silent and thick with tension for a moment before Jordan sighed and leaned over. He opened the passenger door and pulled away, noticing the confused look on his girlfriend's face.

"Jor--"

"Get out, Dahlia. Just get out of the car."

Dahlia's face contorted into confusion and she looked over at him, her eyes pleading with his as she shook her head.

"No, Jordy, wait. I--"

"Just go, Dahlia! Before I say something that one of us will regret, just... go in the house, okay? I need you to get out of the car."

"Where are you gonna go?"

Jordan sighed as he shrugged, staring straight ahead before he placed his head back on the headrest.

"I'll just go crash at Marcus' tonight or something. I'll be back tomorrow after practice."

"And then what?"

Jordan sniffled and shrugged before looking out of the window, not wanting Dahlia to see the tears beginning to spill down his face.

"Who knows?"

"But... we have to talk about this, Jordan."

When Jordan turned back to look at Dahlia, the look on his face was enough to let her know he had already given up.

"Well... there's not really that much to talk about, is there, Dahlia? I mean-- it sounds like you've already made up your mind. Not the right time, right?"

Dahlia cocked her head back, as Jordan's indifference caused more tears to well up in her eyes.

"Jordan, it's not--"

"Not the right time. I know-- you said that already."

The two were staring for a moment before Jordan turned back in his seat and started up his car once again

"Doesn't matter anyway. You're gonna do what you wanna do, Dahlia. Just... just get out, okay?"
