Gentle waves rocked the boat back and forth, and as Dahlia leaned back against the railing, she sighed in content, feeling the wind against her face."I thought you'd be up here."
She turned to see Jordan emerging from below deck, with an adorable little girl in his arms.
"This one just woke up from a nap and I think someone's hungry."
Dahlia smiled as Jordan handed her the infant so she could breastfeed.
"Oh, yeah?"
"She was giving me that look, like 'I love you, Daddy, but, I need Mommy."
Dahlia smiled as she got Sunny settled, brushing a curl out of her face as Jordan watched the two most important women in his life.
"She does, ya know...?"
Dahlia looked up at Jordan, her eyebrows fusing together in confusion.
"Huh?"
"Sunny-- she needs you. She needs her mommy."
Jordan took the seat next to Dahlia, wrapping an arm around her shoulder as he kissed the side of her head.
"I need her mommy, too."
"You always have me, Jordy."
"Doll... please wake up."
Dahlia looked up at Jordan, not understanding what he was talking about when all of a sudden, everything-- including Jordan and Sunny-- began to disintegrate.
"Jordan... what's going on?!"
"Doll wake up..."
"Please wake up..."
"C'mon, Doll. We need you..."

Dahlia began to stir, her eyes fluttering open as she sat up in what appeared to be a hospital room. Jordan was in the corner of the room with his back turned toward her, hunching over a baby bassinet.
A moment later, he was carrying the sweetest bundle Dahlia had ever seen. He set her on the changing station, ready to put her in a fresh diaper.
"Okay, I know you're only a few hours old, but, little girl-- can we talk about these poops? You think this is why Mommy's still sleeping? She can't avoid diaper changing forever, now can she, little Miss Prescott? No, no she can't."
Dahlia smiled, watching the gentle way Jordan cared for their giggligng daughter, knowing he'd never let anything hurt Sunny.
"I need your Mommy, Sunny. I really do."
Jordan sniffled, trying not to think about how the last 19 hours had been an agonizingly, heartbreaking rollercoaster. He shook his head, letting his baby girl's perfection distract him.
"You know you're the cutest little girl in the world, right? I mean-- you've got the perfect little nose, and those same pouty lips-- just like Mommy's."
"Jordy..."
Dahlia's throat was scratchy as she sat up in bed, wincing as she felt the after-effects of her c-section.
"Whoa, Doll! Careful, baby... you just had surgery. Let me call the nurse in."
Jordan was putting Sunny back in her bassinet and was about to head out for the nurse's station when Dahlia stopped him.
"Wait, Jordy! I wanna... I mean... gimme Sunny?"
Jordan smiled and nodded, gently wheeling the bassinet closer to Dahlia's hospital bed. Gently handing his wife their daughter a proud smile was on Jordan's face.
"Hi, Sunny. I'm your mama, babygirl."
Dahlia stroked Sunny's cheek with the back of one of her fingers, and as she turned into her mommy's touch, Sunny smiled.
"Jordy, baby, look! She's smiling. She's perfect."
Jordan smiled as he leaned down, first kissing Sunny's forehead before capturing Dahlia's lips with his own.
"Absolutely perfect, Doll."
